Let’s face it, we all have those days when we wake up with lips so dry they could literally crumble off our face, greasy hair but no time to wash it or a zit on the chin the size of a walnut. The chances of waking up in such a nice state are usually directly proportional to the importance of what we have planned for the day.
It’s an unwritten cosmic law.
But recently, I’ve found three products so effective they defy the cosmic laws and universal order of things and today I’m here to share them with you. Happy? 😉
Greasy Hair: Klorane Dry Shampoo With Oat Milk
Having dark hair, I was wary of using dry shampoo for the longest time. I heard enough horror stories about it looking like dandruff on brunette beauties for me to just want to pass on the whole product category. Then Ruth Crilly launched her Colab Sheer Invisible Dry Shampoo, which sounded exactly like what I needed because it was supposed to leave no residue in the hair at all. So I tried it… Well, I can confirm that it really was sheer invisible, but frankly it could’ve done a better job at absorbing excess oil. It worked best as a styling spray, methinks, but what I actually wanted was something that would make my third-day hair look fresher and cleaner.
Now I’ve finally found that something in the form of Klorane Dry Shampoo With Oat Milk (WOO-HOO!). It is specifically formulated for darker shades of hair, so that I can use it without turning myself into Cruella De Vil (no grey cast whatsoever!) AND it’s amazing at soaking up the oil and making my hair look voluminous and fresh. SCORE!
I’ve only recently acquired this well-raved lip balm from NUXE and oh my word, I love everything about it! I love its frosted glass jar, I love its citrusy scent and, above all, I love that it really is ultra-nourishing. I hate those balms you need to constantly reapply because they just create a film on top of your lips but don’t actually moisturize them. If I apply NUXE’s Rêve de Miel every morning (after exfoliating the lips with my toothbrush) and every night before bed, I can get away with using my beloved matte lipsticks on a daily basis.
Cystic Breakouts: Mario Badescu Buffering Lotion
The first impression I had of this targeted blemish treatment wasn’t exactly a positive one: it smells awful and is so runny it took me a few days to get the hang of application. I realized that the best way to apply this liquid lotion is to squeeze the tiniest amount directly on the zit and then immediately rub it in with a finger. And I also realized that since you only use the tiniest amount in very small areas, you can’t really smell it after you’ve put it on. BUT the actual reason why the Buffering Lotion made it on this little list is that on me it really seems to be working: if I put it on a bump as soon as it starts raising, it usually makes it disappear overnight! On zits in full bloom, the effect is not so quick and noticeable, but it surely does help speed up the healing process. Based on my experience, I can highly recommend this product; despite it’s not miraculous, it is definitely the best blemish treatment I’ve tried so far.
Have you ever used any of these products? Did you like them as much as I do? And do you know of any miraculous concoctions everyone should hear about?
