Tinted Balms: 3 Little Luxuries for Luscious Lips

Like I’ve said many times before, I’m naturally blessed with an everlasting zombie look.

The key features of this look are:

  • a sickly, sallow complexion
  • deathly dark circles
  • livid lips with no defined edge

If I leave my lips au naturel, they basically just blend into the rest of my face, so bright lipsticks have an incredible transformative power on me (as I showed you here).

But as much as I love lipstick, there are days when I want something more low-key/low-maintenance, and that’s when tinted lip balms come into play.

Three tinted balms I’ve been loving lately (L – R): Chanel Rouge Coco Shine Hydrating Sheer Lipshine in 128 Noir Moderne, Dior Addict Lip Glow Color Reviver Balm in 006 Berry, Givenchy Le Rouge Perfecto Beautifying Lip Balm in 01 Perfect Pink

Tinted lip balms instantly make me look more alive and healthy, and keep my lips soft and hydrated throughout the day. Plus, I can just casually apply them on-the-go without a mirror and don’t have to worry about them bleeding or getting on my teeth.

Let’s have a closer look at the ones I’ve been loving lately!

Chanel Rouge Coco Shine Hydrating Sheer Lipshine in 128 Noir Moderne ($37)

Chanel Rouge Coco 128 Noir Moderne Review SwatchesThe Chanel Rouge Coco Shine in 128 Noir Moderne looks like a deep vampy lipstick, but is actually a sheer lip balm

I’ve already spoken about the Chanel Rouge Coco Shine Hydrating Sheer Lipshine in 128 Noir Moderne in my post about the Coco Codes Spring 2017 Collection, so let’s get it out of the way first.

I find it very hydrating and like that it provides a sheer plummy tint that lasts 2/3 hours on me.

Givenchy Le Rouge Perfecto Beautifying Lip Balm in 01 Perfect Pink ($36)

The Givenchy Le Rouge Perfecto in 01 Perfect Pink is one of those balms that react with the pH of your skin to give your lips a custom tint

OK, so, if beautiful packaging brings you as much joy as it does to me, you need the Givenchy Le Rouge Perfecto in 01 Perfect Pink in your life. It’s without a doubt the most gorgeous lip product I’ve ever seen.

It provides a very spring-like soft pink glow, but is probably a little less emollient than the other two options.

Dior Addict Lip Glow Color Reviver Balm in 006 Berry ($33)

Like the Givenchy Lip Perfecto, the Dior Addict Lip Glow Color Reviver Balm in 006 Berry is a pH-reacting balm, but it definitely provides a brighter tint

If I had to only choose one out of the three, I’d most likely pick the Dior Addict Lip Glow in shade 006 Berry, which was recently released with the Colour Gradation Collection for Spring 2017 (if you haven’t read my post on the coral palette and red-pink lip duo from this amazing collection, you can find it here).

For me it ticks all the right boxes:

  • It has uniquely gorgeous packaging.
  • It (very faintly) smells like licorice mints – I open it with the sole purpose of giving it a sniff several times a day. I’m obsessed!
  • It is very emollient.
  • It gives my lips a beautiful bright pink tint that lasts 3/4 hours.

Do you ever use tinted lip balms? Do you know of any drugstore options that are really hydrating and last more than 20 minutes on the lips? And are you too blessed with an everlasting zombie look? 😉

I love my Dior Addict Lip Glow in the shade Pink, it seems like it doesn’t do much, but it actually does a lot when it comes to brightening the entire face! The Givenchy Le Rouge Perfecto actually looks very similar to it in terms of shade, and that packaging…. such a shame it isn’t as emollient though! Great post 🙂

The packaging of the Givenchy is incomparable, but for nourishment and pigment the Dior one definitely wins.

Gosh, you’ve picked the most intriguing lip balm! That berry shade is so nice… Despite my lips and fingers have never touched a Dior so far, I’m in love with the superb packaging!!!
    Enjoy your weekend, Carolina!!!

I love all of these lip shades! The berry shade is my favourite but they all look so great. I too have circles under my eyes and need a bit of colour on my lips to look alive haha xx

How beautiful is the packaging of the Givenchy? I love when lip products come in a lovely tube and this one is gorgeous!! I love to use tinted lip balms but I haven’t tried any high-end, but the more affordable options do not last on my lips for long.

Yeah, I can’t get over how beautiful the Givenchy is!
In the past I tried a couple Maybelline Baby Lips and a tinted balm from Sephora (one of those shaped like little eggs) and they were awful! They made my lips drier!

The Dior balm looks beautiful. I feel like we’re finally moving away from ultra matte lips (hooray!) and in to sheeny, balmy textures again and I couldn’t be happier! Great picks, Carolina-I’ll definitely be picking at least one of these up!

I personally LOVE mattes (not those crusty, ultra-dry mattes, though) for bright and bold colors as I find them more modern and low-maintenance than shiny finishes, but when I don’t use those, tinted balms are just great!
If you pick up the Dior one, I think you’ll be REALLY satisfied!

I have rather pigmented lips naturally, but still, a little bit of color definitely brightens my face! And I do love a sheer, comfortable lippie for every day wear. I can’t spend my life touching up my lipstick! I haven’t tried any of these yet, but I do like the Fresh tinted balms, and the Lancome Juicy Shaker kind of play the same role for me.

I’ve been wearing the Dior Addict Lip Glow in Berry too and really like it, I’m so glad they came out with different colours! The Givenchy one has been on my list for a while now purely cause of the pretty packaging.

Your dark circles are nowhere near as bad as mine. I unsuccessfully tried to Photoshop mine out one time, lol. I usually get drugstore tinted lip balms: my favorite is the Revlon Lip Butters. They are so smooth and pigmented, and are a dupe of the Too Faced La Creme lipsticks!

I am blessed with the zombie look, but I do have quite pigmented lips, so sheer balms never really do it for me. So no recommendations on this topic, I tend to gravitate towards more opaque formulations. All the options you showed do offer quite some color though, at least on you.

Oooo, I really like how Dior Addict Lip Glow looks on you! Dammit, I wasn’t tempted by it at all until I read your post and saw how pretty it is on you.

Give me some berry! I love that shade much as I dont really do balms. You find the best of the best always. I give it to you girl! I clicked on the back link and your lips have good definition but then again you know them best. Have a great week and I look forward to the next products.

My lips are not very pigmented either and my upper lip is almost non-existant so when I don’t wear anything on my lips I tend to look rather ghostly too!

That Dior balm looks lovely! Recently I have been loving the new Sephora lip balm line- they are very moisturizing and give a little bit of a tint as well. And they are only $6!
