Like I’ve said many times before, I’m naturally blessed with an everlasting zombie look.
The key features of this look are:
- a sickly, sallow complexion
- deathly dark circles
- livid lips with no defined edge
If I leave my lips au naturel, they basically just blend into the rest of my face, so bright lipsticks have an incredible transformative power on me (as I showed you here).
But as much as I love lipstick, there are days when I want something more low-key/low-maintenance, and that’s when tinted lip balms come into play.
Three tinted balms I’ve been loving lately (L – R): Chanel Rouge Coco Shine Hydrating Sheer Lipshine in 128 Noir Moderne, Dior Addict Lip Glow Color Reviver Balm in 006 Berry, Givenchy Le Rouge Perfecto Beautifying Lip Balm in 01 Perfect Pink
Tinted lip balms instantly make me look more alive and healthy, and keep my lips soft and hydrated throughout the day. Plus, I can just casually apply them on-the-go without a mirror and don’t have to worry about them bleeding or getting on my teeth.
Let’s have a closer look at the ones I’ve been loving lately!
Chanel Rouge Coco Shine Hydrating Sheer Lipshine in 128 Noir Moderne ($37)
The Chanel Rouge Coco Shine in 128 Noir Moderne looks like a deep vampy lipstick, but is actually a sheer lip balm
I’ve already spoken about the Chanel Rouge Coco Shine Hydrating Sheer Lipshine in 128 Noir Moderne in my post about the Coco Codes Spring 2017 Collection, so let’s get it out of the way first.
I find it very hydrating and like that it provides a sheer plummy tint that lasts 2/3 hours on me.
Givenchy Le Rouge Perfecto Beautifying Lip Balm in 01 Perfect Pink ($36)
The Givenchy Le Rouge Perfecto in 01 Perfect Pink is one of those balms that react with the pH of your skin to give your lips a custom tint
OK, so, if beautiful packaging brings you as much joy as it does to me, you need the Givenchy Le Rouge Perfecto in 01 Perfect Pink in your life. It’s without a doubt the most gorgeous lip product I’ve ever seen.
It provides a very spring-like soft pink glow, but is probably a little less emollient than the other two options.
Dior Addict Lip Glow Color Reviver Balm in 006 Berry ($33)
Like the Givenchy Lip Perfecto, the Dior Addict Lip Glow Color Reviver Balm in 006 Berry is a pH-reacting balm, but it definitely provides a brighter tint
If I had to only choose one out of the three, I’d most likely pick the Dior Addict Lip Glow in shade 006 Berry, which was recently released with the Colour Gradation Collection for Spring 2017 (if you haven’t read my post on the coral palette and red-pink lip duo from this amazing collection, you can find it here).
For me it ticks all the right boxes:
- It has uniquely gorgeous packaging.
- It (very faintly) smells like licorice mints – I open it with the sole purpose of giving it a sniff several times a day. I’m obsessed!
- It is very emollient.
- It gives my lips a beautiful bright pink tint that lasts 3/4 hours.
Do you ever use tinted lip balms? Do you know of any drugstore options that are really hydrating and last more than 20 minutes on the lips? And are you too blessed with an everlasting zombie look? 😉
