What do you think? Have I just run a marathon or tried to use the draping technique?
I’m telling you guys, I’ve always thought so, but now I’m sure of it: I have psychic powers.
Do you remember that a couple of weeks ago I talked about about the comeback of colored mascara?
And do you remember how I started that post?
No? Well, allow me to remind you:
So, what do you think of blue mascara?
Does it trigger memories of mullets and unblended fuchsia blush you’ve been trying to suppress for the past 26 years?
If so, I’m sorry. You may leave now, I understand.
Well, despite (or maybe because of??) me mocking it, unblended bold blush going all the way up to the temples is back. *insert emoji of your choice. I’ll go with Munch’s The Scream, but feel free to opt for heart eyes*
Or at least, it’s supposed to come back, according to Mr. Marc Jacobs.
Yep! I read on marieclaire.com that, apparently, using color to drape the contours of your face and change its shape is the new way to blush. So basically this fall we’re going to contour using blush – or at least that’s what the Marc Jacobs Beauty marketing team wants us to do with their brand new Air Blush Soft Glow Duos.
With their intense pigmentation, I think the MADINA Milano Prisma Blushes in 03 (coral) and 05 (fuchsia) would be perfect for the ‘new’ draping technique
Marc Jacobs new blushes definitely look pretty, but if I ever get one, I’m pretty sure I’m not going to use it the intended way. As you probably know by now if you’ve been following this blog, I love me some crazy colors on the lips, I like bright eyeshadows, and I’m OK with colored mascara, but when it comes to base I like things to look pretty natural and simple. And this 70’s/80’s revival is all but natural-looking.
So yeah, mama’s gonna pass on this one! (If I accidentally bump my head against the wall extremely hard, lose even the last remnants of my sanity, and start draping my face in fuchsia blush, you can totally hold this against me.)
What do you think? Are you gonna give this ‘new’ draping thing a try? And do you think mullets are coming back also??

July 8, 2016 at 12:14 pmI will also have to pass on this one, I’m usually very sceptical about makeup trends, it’s only a matter of time before we deeply regret them, even though I have to admit I’m always a little bit influenced by them!

July 8, 2016 at 3:24 pmOooo I’m just not sure about this! Must say, you pull it off incredibly well. I’ll have to play around and give it a go myself. Interesting concept though, trends always come back around – whether the everyday woman wants it or not. No doubt this will take the beauty blogging industry by storm in the next few months! Well done for being one of the first 😉

July 8, 2016 at 3:25 pmI´ll go with Munchs emoji as well. That and triangle ear rings, neon leggings and a close ringlet perm have scarred me for a lifetime.

July 8, 2016 at 6:16 pmI do blend my blusher up to my temple but only very natural looking ones and it’s blended with my bronzer unlike the 80s! And I’m giving this ‘trend’ a pass too. LOL!
ps: Must say it looks pretty good on you though. 😉

July 8, 2016 at 7:42 pmMost of the things we do now are things that used to be done in the past. It kind of confirm the world is circle.
Everything we stopped doing is gonna make a comeback like it’s all new.

July 8, 2016 at 10:40 pmI don’t think I’ll be going for this either! Sometimes it seems like ‘trends’ are now appearing just for the sake of it! 😉 xx

Yeah, I’m pretty curious myself.

July 9, 2016 at 4:07 pmI quite like this look, not sure if I could fully embrace it although I’m not that good at doing my blusher so most of the time it looks unblended lol. The blue mascara looks really pretty.

July 10, 2016 at 12:01 amThis is probably the absolute worst technique I’ve ever heard of… Doing that with a contour color or bronzer makes a bit of sense, because it recreates the shadows or the tan you could have naturally, but doing with a bright blush?? No effing way. It looks ridiculous (although you’re still very pretty in that picture), like you’re bruised or something.

July 10, 2016 at 2:23 amOk so obviously this trend is completely unwearable, but it looks so good on you! I definitely like the idea of there being a new popular trend, besides contouring. I’m just not too sure whether excessive blush is the way to go. But this look seems a lot of fun to create none the less and you definitely pull it off.:)

July 10, 2016 at 9:10 pmYeah….I don’t know about this one either. I was all on board for the colored mascara but draping…*no way emoji* it sounds a lot like strobing, which I kind of think isn’t a real thing but companies use these terms to sell products. :/
You still look gorgeous but definitely a bit marathony red 😀

July 11, 2016 at 11:45 pmHi Annie!
I know what you mean, but I feel like this one is even worse than strobing. I can’t imagine it looking good on anybody!

July 11, 2016 at 6:06 amOo I like the look of that firey red-orange blush! I feel like I sometimes do that blush technique by accident when I’m too into the moment and my brush goes everywhere on the sides of my face! I like the look on you!

July 11, 2016 at 9:51 amHaha draping, I love it! I can’t pull off blue so I’ll give it a miss 🙂

July 19, 2016 at 10:41 amWhat happened in the 80s should probably stay in the 80s! I highly doubt that women will follow this trend. It’s just not the best thing to bring back from the past and no matter how hard fashion and beauty magazines will sell it, we know what suits us best. If at least that was fun… but it’s just so very unflattering.
