I have two activity options for today:
- Sit in the corner crying with my head between my knees because the Christmas holidays are already a distant memory and my next break from work is still months away.
- Focus on the beauty of the Chanel Neapolis: New City collection.
*much internal debating*
OK, I think I’ll opt for the latter.
Chanel Les 9 Ombres Affresco Eyeshadow Palette ($70)
Swatches of the beautiful shadows in the Chanel Les 9 Ombres Affresco palette
For spring-summer 2018, Lucia Pica has designed an exquisite collection inspired by the art, nature and colors of her southern Italian hometown, Naples.
The star piece of Chanel Neapolis: New City is an unprecedented 9-shadow palette that features a spellbinding selection of jewel and neutral tones.
What first captivated my attention were the gorgeous green and turquoise in the middle, but I’ve learnt to love the other shadows just as much. OK, almost as much.
The creamy formula is a pleasure to work with and if you only want to get a piece from the collection I think the Les 9 Ombres Affresco Eyeshadow Palette should be it.
Infusing a bit of color into this grey, grey winter! I’m wearing the Chanel Les 9 Ombres Eyeshadow Palette and the Chanel Ombre Première in 824 Verderame on my eyes and the Chanel Poudre à Lèvres in 410 Rosso Pompeiano on my lips
Chanel Ombre Première Longwear Cream Eyeshadow in 824 Verderame ($36)
Swatch of the Chanel Ombre Première Longwear Cream Eyeshadow in 824 Verderame
Unless you use them as a liner, in my experience cream shadows work well on their own only if they’re neutral, and the Chanel Ombre Première Longwear Cream Eyeshadow in 824 Verderame is no exception to this rule. If you want to give the shadows from the Les 9 Ombres palette more depth and dimension, though, this gorgeous green works wonders.
Nice to have for the makeup maven, not a necessity for the beauty-world beginner.
Chanel Poudre à Lèvres Lip Balm and Powder Duo in 410 Rosso Pompeiano ($37)
Lip swatch of the Chanel Poudre à Lèvres Lip Balm and Powder Duo in 410 Rosso Pompeiano. I love the powdery finish, but if you have dry lips, don’t even look at this
As much as I like its color and finish, I have to admit that the Chanel Poudre à Lèvres in 410 Rosso Pompeiano is not the most convenient lip product ever created. You apply the clear lip balm with your fingers and then pat the red powder on top using the included foam applicator, which definitely takes more time than a regular lipstick bullet swipe.
If you’re all for speed and ease of application, steer clear, but if you want something new and different, definitely go for it.
Chanel Le Vernis Longwear Nail Colour in 592 Giallo Napoli ($28)
Today I’m wearing two coats of the Chanel Le Vernis Longwear Nail Colour in 592 Giallo Napoli
Hmmm, I’ve always wanted a yellow nail polish, but something more pastel-y than this intense, warm-toned yellow. I think I’ll have to use Chanel Le Vernis Longwear Nail Colour in 592 Giallo Napoli in the summer months to decide if I really like it or not.
That’s all for today, folks! Time for me to go sit in the corner…
