REVIEW | Chanel Rouge Allure Ink in 154 Expérimenté: A Matte Liquid Lipstick That Is So Very Chanel

The new Chanel Rouge Allure Ink Matte Liquid Lip Colour in 154 Expérimenté ($37)

Oops, Chanel did it again*, and by “it” I mean stealing my heart! (*What is it with me and trashy songs from my middle school years, lately?! Maybe I do have a bit of nostalgia, after all.)

It was literally love at first sight between me and Rouge Allure Ink, Chanel’s new matte liquid lipstick. When I saw its Rouge-Allure-style top and frosted glass bottom, I was instantly sold – or, better, it was sold!

img_4170The packaging of the new Chanel Rouge Allure Ink in 154 Expérimenté is pure perfection!

After that initial superficial infatuation, I was glad to find out that I also really liked what it has to offer on the inside: a very lightweight formula that effortlessly coats the lips in a sophisticated, slightly deeper shade of red.

So chic.

So Chanel.

Chanel Rouge Allure Ink 154 Expérimenté Review Swatches Matte Liquid LipstickSheeny upon application, the finish of the Chanel Rouge Allure Ink in 154 Expérimenté turns matte after about 30 minutes of wear. But if you’re picturing those cat-butt lips liquid lipsticks often give, just let me tell you that you’re way off. This is a flattering matte – the type that will look good even if you don’t get lip injections. 😉

If you like those 100% matte, indelible-paint, will-resist-a-five-course-meal type of liquid lipsticks, the Chanel Rouge Allure Ink in 154 Expérimenté is probably not for you. You’ll need to touch it up after any meals, and every 3-4 hours (unless you use a matching liner as a base), but on the other hand it’s so comfy and looks so good that in my opinion it’s totally worth the trade-off.

Chanel Rouge Allure Ink 154 Expérimenté Review Swatches Matte Liquid LipstickSo yeah, the Chanel Rouge Allure Ink in 154 Expérimenté gets a big thumbs-up from me. I’m really happy to see luxury French brands like Chanel and Dior (did you catch my previous post on the new blue Rouge Dior lipstick?) take young, mainstream trends and make them more refined and appealing to an older public.

I wonder what’s next… A YSL rainbow highlighter, maybe?

Thank you for the review, I was wondering whether or not I should try these, it sounds lovely and so much more comfortable to wear than the usual matte liquid lipsticks! I couldn’t agree more about your conclusion, I think Chanel and Dior finally realized that trends aren’t limited to fashion, they exist in the beauty world as well yet they still take into consideration the fact that most of their clients are mature woman who need comfort and more wearable, every day makeup items!

I was really curious about these. I think I would like the formula too but I am still not used to wearing reds and I don’t think there is any pink shade, is there?

That is a perfect brick red on you and also a beautiful colour for Autumn. The formula sounds absolutely dreamy, I think this needs to be added into my list of purchase.

Gorgeous deep red shade, perfect for Autmn/Winter! The formula sounds great, I don’t mind to re-apply my lipstick after a meal if it means I have a comfortable wear. x

That’s a gorgeous colour colour, your latest lip product purchases make my wishlist longer… it is not good! Most of the time I reapply my lip products so reapplying it wouldn’t be a problem for me. Ah also, you look gorgeous with that colour! Rainbow highlighter… why not?

What a gorgeous shade, this colour really and truly suits you – wow! I usually shy away from a red lip, though this is sorely tempting me haha 🙂 Hope you’ve having a lovely weekend.

Haha, we basically used the same words to describe it! Flattering, comfy… yup, totally agree with you! It’s good to see that the formula is consitent, light nudes like my shade can sometimes feel and look very different from deeper red shades like yours. Chanel really made a great lippie here!

I wasn’t even aware that Chanel did liquid lipsticks! This shade looks absolutely stunning on you Carol. Yes I really feel like this shade of red is very chic, like you said. The deeper undertone is what gives it that sophisticated edge. It sounds really unique how it doesn’t turn matte until 30 minutes after too. I think that’s great, as I really don’t like products that dry instantly – with no play time at all. Oh and I would for sure snap up a YSL rainbow highlighter, if it ever did exist haha!!

I much prefer liquid lipsticks that need a touch up here and there; the super long lasting ones are a beetch to remove! I love the matte glass bottom of the packaging, it’s so pretty and luxurious! Again, you look great! ;D

What a way to Fall into Autumn with Chanel. This matte shade is gorgeous on you, so chic and suits you nicely.

I do find I often have to top up lipsticks after meals, so I don’t mind doing this.

Love this post Carolina! I am glad that high end brands are meeting the currrent trends and this product does look beautiful. I am don’t mind touching up matte lips throughout the day if the product is comfortable to wear!
