December 2016: Current Crushes & I Hope You Had a Nice Christmas

The best beauty products I’ve (re)discovered this month

And another Christmas has come and gone.

I hope you all got the chance to spend it with your loved ones and eat tons of delicious food.

Speaking of which… I feel like I’m still full from a 3-day marathon of big meals (Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, AND Boxing Day). At the moment I’m lying motionless (except for my tapping fingers) on the couch and enjoying the warmth of the sun filtering through my big skylight… I don’t know if you’ve ever seen the sea lions at San Francisco’s Pier 39, but today those chubby creatures lying in the sun and I look remarkably alike.

Despite I haven’t looked like a stranded marine mammal all month long and have actually enjoyed putting on makeup quite a lot, I haven’t discovered too many new products in December.

The biggest shout-out definitely goes to The Ordinary skincare range. I love all of the four products I’ve tried, but the one that gave the most visible results is without a doubt the Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%, which really helped me get rid of the breakouts I had around my jawline over the past few months.

As for makeup, there are only two new (to me) products I’ve tried and loved this month, and they’re both Chanel neutrals.

One is the Rouge Coco Ultra Hydrating Lip Colour in 404 Julia, which really is “ultra hydrating”, but somehow pretty long-lasting, too. On Christmas Day, I applied it at about 11 am (on top of an old Urban Decay nude liner) and when I checked it in the mirror around 6 pm I noticed that its sheen and creaminess were still hanging around, even though I’d had a massive meal – very impressive!

The other Chanel product I’ve been loving this month is the Longwear Nail Colour in 505 Particulière. The formula is super long-wearing and the color is pure neutral perfection. I highly, highly recommend it!

Last, it wouldn’t really be December without a red lipstick, would it? As you probably know, I have (and love!) many red lipsticks, but this month I’ve had the pleasure to rediscover the KIKO Velvet Passion Matte Lipstick in 312 Cherry, which is a bright cool red that I find perfect for the Holidays. Plus, it has a creamy matte formula that is both comfortable and long-lasting.

Aaand that’s it for today!

Actually, that’s it for the year! I wish you all a fun and safe New Year’s Eve. I’ll see you on the other side! 😉

Thanks for always introducing us to fab products. I ate till I could eat no more. I don’t typically wear browns but the Chanel Julia has my name written all over it.

Seven hours and a big meal? That really is impressive staying power for a lipstick. Not even liquid lipsticks last that long on me.
And The Ordinary is on my list of products I need to try in 2017, based on your recommendations and my curiosity. And the food… I kept up with the intermittent fasting over Christmas, which helped, but I feel quite stuffed nonetheless.

“Julia” sounds absolutely incredible! What a long wear!
    Girlie, happy Christmas & fast-approaching New Year! 🙂 <3
I honestly have probably gained over 5kg: Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Boxing Day and 2 more big meals after that (Tue & Wed) being out with friends and family. Dear me, there's a strict diet coming up in my nearest future when we're back home lol.
Enjoy the rest of the holidays, hon!

Me too, I’m regretting all the chocolates and desserts I ate, along with the dinners haha! The Ordinary skincare range sounds good, I get breakouts in the exact same place – so I’d love to give it a try. A nude Chanel lipstick sounds like my lipstick heaven! I always love creamy formulas that have good lasting power, they’re hard to find. This shade of polish by Chanel looks so luxurious; the perfect cross between brown and bronze. Happy to hear you’ve had a lovely Christmas – and in advance… Happy New Year!!
