February 2016: Current Crushes and BIG NEWS

Some of you may remember that in my last monthly favorite installment I blabbered about January being pretty uneventful and the weather extremely bipolar. Well, not much changed in February weather-wise: we had many beautiful spring-like days until someone decided to brag about her ‘season-detecting superpowers and how she could feel the spring coming… Turns out I might have evoked an ancient curse and triggered the wrath of the gods.

Worst weather in months, from the Alps all the way down to Sicily.

Now, my dear fellow Italians, rest assured I won’t EVER do that again. Pinky promise.

Moving on to events, February was DA SH*D… The month started off with Karen from Makeup and Beauty Blog letting me know she had selected me as one of the contributors who will help her out while she is on maternity leave. Karen was the first beauty blogger I started following many moons ago (MBB is NINE years old!) and getting her stamp of approval on my own blog meant the world to me. She is SOOO brilliant! If, for some strange reason, you don’t know her blog, go check it out RIGHT NOW. You can thank me when you come back to finish reading this post (but if you lose yourself in her witty prose, I’ll understand). 😉

So starting any day now, you’ll be able to get an extra dose of Carol in a Page by visiting makeupandbeautyblog.com. I hope you’ll come say hi!

OK, I should probably get to my current crushes now, so without any further ado…

Max Factor Crème Puff Blush – 10 Nude Mauve

When I saw Anne (whom you probably know as Linda, Libra, Loca) looking all radiant and nicely flushed in her review of the shade Seductive Pink, I just knew that I had to have one of these blushes! She’s been claiming throughout her pregnancy that she doesn’t have that beautiful pregnancy glow, so it all had to be down to the blush, right? 😉 Anyways, being in need of a true nude blush, I picked up the shade Nude Mauve and boy am I glad I did. Whenever I’m running late (*cough*most of the time*cough*), I just sweep it on my cheekbones and it works beautifully as a blush/bronzer hybrid. It gives me the most natural glow and subtle definition. I absolutely love it!

Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner – Jet Black

This is my all-time favorite liquid liner. I mentioned it before in an empties post and after that I didn’t repurchase it right away because I wanted to get more use out of my Maybelline gel liner, but, as you probably know, liquid and gel liner are not the same thing at all… So, since my eyeliner game was suffering because of its absence, I finally repurchased it and was glad to find out that my love was enhanced, rather than diminished, by our days apart. It really does stay put all day, it’s a very intense black and the pen never dries out. AMAZEBALLS!

I’ll skip through the next products pretty quickly, as I’ve already talked about them quite recently. I’ll link the relevant posts, so that you can check them out in case you missed them.

Charlotte Tilbury Luxury Palette – The Dolce Vita

If you read my review, then you’ll know that this palette makes me dream – quite literally. The shadows are super creamy, pigmented and blendable. Anything you’d expect from a 50-euro quad!

MAC Velvetease Lip Pencil – Lover’s Lane

I reviewed this lip crayon in my last post and I love how pigmented and comfortable to wear it is, but the thing that made me truly fall head over heels is its vibrant orange color.

MAC Lipstick – All Fired Up

As I said in the post about the products I rediscovered in the month of February, this is the lipstick I’d wear if I were set to conquer the world. I love its name almost as much as I love its shade, a gorgeous warm-toned fuchsia, and finish, a true, powdery matte.

Anything exciting in your little corner of the planet? I hope the wrath of the gods didn’t reach you where you are…

We had the hottest February this year (25 degrees, crazy isn’t it?) then it dropped down to 4 degrees in a day, it was horrible! I should stop complaining about the hot weather! Again congratulations 🙂
Anne has a lovely pregnancy glow and also seductive pink gives her radiant look 😉 It is one of my favourite blush, I only have seductive pink, I’d like to try nude mauve too! If I paid 50€ on an eyeshadow quad then I’d expect it to be perfect like this one!

Things are nicely warming up on my side and the sun has been out a lot even though it’s raining today. LOL! I can’t even pin point what I really love in February because I was travelling, hopefully my mind won’t be as fickle in March. Congratulations again for being chosen as a contributor on Karen’s blog! I’ve been reading her blog since forever!

Well, once again congrats on being chosen a contributor, though I had no doubt that your blog would get the stamp of approval, given the entertaining and enjoyable way you write. And I am glad you enjoyed your Max Factor Cream Puff blush, giving you pregnancy glow minus the hormones!
The weather here has been pretty consistent, either cold and sunny or clouded and warmer, which is typical for this time of year. But the days are getting longer and there is more and more green to be seen, so I have high hopes that despite you evoking this ancient curse, spring will come after all!

Well, I guess if the weather was awful in Italy it had to be really nice somewhere, and that was… right here. February has been very sunny and hot. with several days close to 30. That was a bit too much actually, and it’s just a little cooler which is perfect!
Congrats on you MBB contributor gig, I read your first post and it was great!

The Puff Blush sounds amazing! Admittedly I’m not hugely in blushes because my cheeks are naturally pretty red, but I like the sound of a nude blush. And it gives a natural glow?! I’m in. And even though the last thing I need is another eyeliner, I like the sound of the pen never drying out!

Also, congratulations on being chosen as a contributer! What an exciting opportunity! I’m on my way to Karen’s blog now 🙂

Karen is amazing and easily one of my favorite beauty bloggers. Although I’m more of a lurker over there lol. I’ll definitely pop in and say hello though. I can only imagine how exciting it must be to work alongside her. She’s got great taste! 🙂

Congratulations on becoming a contributor on Makeup and Beauty Blog Carol! That’s such an amazing opportunity and you completely deserve it hun. There are two products here that I desperately need to try. Firstly, I’m a huge fan of Charlotte Tilburys’ make-up and I’m yet to try her eyeshadows – that needs to change! Then I’ve read a lot of great reviews on Stilas’ liquid liner. Also when I’ve seen it in tutorials it looks beautiful too. Great picks and you’ve enticed me to purchase a few.:D

Ah, swooning over the Charlotte Tilbury palette – both the actual shades and of course, the packaging haha (how terrible is that?!). Congratulations on being asked to contribute to that blog by the way, I know the feeling when someone who’s blog you used to read years ago starts following you or something similar! Have a wonderful weekend 🙂

The weather has been absolutely insane here, last night was the hottest night recorded since the 19’s. No sleep for me as we don’t have AC either. I’m really keen on trying the Stila liner, I love my liquid liner but by the end of the day a lot of the time it’s moved down on my face and looks like a bad smokey eye.

It certainly seems that the weather is all over the place at the moment, it felt like Winter walking outdoors venturing into London to an exhibit last night, it was Frosty, apparently it’s March, unless we have gone back in time and it’s secretly January 😉

Anyhow, your picks are gorgeous and I’m a fan of the Charlotte TIlbury Dolce Vita, as mentioned in my comment on your other post I opt for warm colours usually and that particular palette is a favourite 🙂

    Lovely post!
