I’m really sad it’s the end of August already, just like every year I don’t want summer to end. I feel like I should’ve been born in one of those places where it’s summertime all year long. I love the sun, the heat, the long days and the beach, while I hate the cold, the fog, the dark afternoons and having to wear five layers of clothing to go outside… OK, this is getting slightly depressing, so let’s cheer up the mood by focusing on my August Makeup Favorites!
This month I’ve been wearing very minimal makeup with the occasional pop of lip color and all of my favorites (but one!) reflect that.
My go-to base this summer consists in mixing my moisturizer with Instant Age Rewind and applying the mixture all over my face. Then I go in with just the concealer to cover my dark circles or any blemishes. I love it because it’s very lightweight, but still packs a nice amount of coverage.
Because of the SPF in it, I’ve opted for this instead of moisturizer + concealer whenever I knew I was going to spend some time outdoors. It evens out my complexion and doesn’t feel heavy on my oily skin. I like this Doré (golden) shade because it has a nice warmth to it, but doesn’t lean orange at all.
Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow Sheer Powder – Shade 50
If you read my bronzer edit, you’ll probably remember that this is my favorite one of all time. When you use this, you can’t really tell you’re wearing powder: it melts perfectly into the skin and just looks natural and glowy.
Tom Ford Lip Color Matte – 06 Flame
This is exactly my kind of lipstick (except for the price tag!): matte, but comfortable on the lips, long-lasting without being drying. Flame is a bright orangey-red I started wearing and loving last winter, but I think it’s against my tanned skin that it shows its full glory.
Collistar Eyebrow Gel – 3 Silvana Brunette
I mentioned this one in my post about Italian beauty brands. I like natural brows and this tinted gel is the only product I use on them at the moment: it sets them and makes them look a little fuller and defined.
KIKO Metallic Shine Eyeshadow – 05 Charming Sage
I’ve already reviewed this eyeshadow from KIKO’s Rebel Romantic collection, so you’re welcome to check that out. Long story short, I really like its creamy powder formula and its color, a nicely pigmented olive green that pairs well with my brown eyes.
What have YOU been loving this month? I’m all ears! Or should I say ‘eyes’?! 😉
