KIKO Velvet Passion Matte Lipsticks in 307 Cyclamen Pink, 312 Cherry, and 319 Chocolate
You know I love me some matte lipsticks…
So when I heard that KIKO’s most recent launch fell into this category, I got pretty damn excited!
The brand new Velvet Passion Matte Lipstick comes in 20 shades, and I think it’s going to replace the fan favorite Velvet Mat Satin Lipstick. I’ve been playing with 307 Cyclamen Pink, 312 Cherry, and 319 Chocolate over the past week, and today I’m ready to share my opinion with you.
The new KIKO Velvet Passion Matte Lipsticks have a rather futuristic appearance, don’t you think?
Packaging-wise, the Velvet Passion Matte Lipsticks feel heavy and more expensive than they actually are, and I like that the matte finish of the tube hints at the finish of the lipstick itself.
The KIKO Velvet Passion Matte Lipstick in 312 Cherry is the most long-lasting one on me and leaves behind a pretty stain
The formula is pretty creamy, which means that they glide on the lips effortlessly and are very comfortable to wear. Their texture is quite thin, so longevity is good, but not the best, with 312 Cherry being the most long-lasting one and 307 Cyclamen Pink coming in a close second.
Wearing the KIKO Velvet Passion Matte Lipstick in 307 Cyclamen Pink and the KIKO Everlasting Colour Precision Lip Liner in 412 Fuchsia
307 Cyclamen Pink is the only one I wouldn’t recommend, though, as it emphasizes dryness on my lips I don’t even know I have and looks pretty unflattering (it didn’t translate into the picture, but trust me, it’s true). I wonder if I got the only ‘bad’ shade or if the quality is not consistent throughout the range…
KIKO Velvet Passion Matte Lipstick in 319 Chocolate. I didn’t think I would, but I actually love this shade!
Alongside the Velvet Passion Matte Lipsticks, KIKO launched 16 new twist-up pencils, the Everlasting Colour Precision Lip Liners.
KIKO Everlasting Colour Precision Lip Liner in 412 Fuchsia
Based on the only shade I got, 412 Fuchsia, I think these are the type of pencils that work best when used in combination with lipstick, in order to extend its wear time and get a sharp edge (unlike the Creamy Colour Comfort Lip Liners, which in my opinion are better suited to be used on their own). The Everlasting Colour Precision Lip Liner in 412 Fuchsia is neither too hard nor too creamy, so that you can outline the lips precisely without it feeling scratchy or uncomfortable.
All in all, if I consider the Velvet Passion Matte Lipstick in 307 Cyclamen Pink as an exception, I think these new launches are definitely worth checking out.

May 8, 2016 at 12:06 pmI don’t know how Kiko does that, but their packagings always feel more expensive and luxurious than their prices! I actually quite like the shade Chocolate! It’s such a shame it emphasized dryness!

May 8, 2016 at 12:09 pmOops, I meant that 307 Cyclamen Pink is the one that emphasizes dryness. I’ve edited the post now so that it’s more clear! 😉

May 8, 2016 at 4:15 pmLove the packaging. I like 319 Chocolate out of the three. All shades look pretty on you. I hate when shades performance differ within the range, it kind of makes it hard to pick up shades blindly 🙂

May 9, 2016 at 2:59 amI still haven’t tried any Kiko products, I love the packaging though. It’s so different! You look stunning in all three shades but the red lip really suits you so well. I always (when I actually buy makeup) try to buy different shades, come home and realise I’ve discovered that it’s a dupe haha!

May 9, 2016 at 12:56 pmThe bad impression Cyclamen Pink made on you surely did not translate into the picture, but of course Cherry is my favorite. On first sight Chocolate looked a little patchy, did you have issues with that?

May 9, 2016 at 4:39 pmNo issues! But the texture is pretty thin, so it might be ever so slightly uneven. Not really noticeable in person, though.

May 11, 2016 at 2:09 pmI’m not terribly enchanted by matte lipstick (said the girl with a drawer full of them) !!
I have dry lips.. no, not dry: dehydrated. It’s all my fault, because I do not drink enough water during the day, or I get caught by work, work, work, and forget to sip from my bottle. Hence, my lips are so dry they stick together and when I try to open my mouth a bit of skin actually peels off.
Matte lipstick looks terrible on that. Any lipstick, really.
Tell me again, why have I bought so many matte lipsticks? Oh, yes it is because of articles like yours!! I ended reading your article with so many pretty pictures and immediately thought “oh, I never tried kiko lippies, may be those will work” (not)
Some bloggers just need to stop being so awesome 😛

May 13, 2016 at 6:08 pmReally love Chocolate on you, hon! It’s such a great feeling when you end up loving something you had very little expectations about 🙂 KIKO has been on my radar big time thanks to you and Ela of ElaBellaWorld – full credit to you both for recommending all the lovely bits & pieces from this brand. P.S. You take the best photos that display the makeup naturally. Just wow. Need some tips 🙂

May 14, 2016 at 11:49 amWell all of the shades that you picked up look beautiful on you Carol! Also they really look so creamy and pigmented for matte shades. I love that they have complimenting lip pencils too, I think that’s quite unique at the moment. I will have to check these out, as even though I’m trying to wear more satin finishes for the Spring/Summer – I can’t resist a good matte lipstick.:D

December 28, 2017 at 11:45 pmI own Cherry, and I LOVE it!
As you observed, the formula is comfortably creamy, though the finish is matte.
Red lipsticks tend to go pink on NW15 me, but Cherry goes on as a beautiful “holly berry” red, and stays that way.
May Kiko never discontinue it!
I had my eye on Cyclamen Pink, but after reading about its texture, I may skip it.

December 30, 2017 at 5:53 pmHi Carla! Yeah, Cyclamen Pink is nowhere near as good as Cherry, I gave it away.
