YSL Rouge Pur Couture The Mats Photos and SwatchesAs you might have noticed in the post about my top five lip products for summer, I have a soft spot for bold lipsticks, especially if they’re matte. If your tastes are similar to mine, then there is another formula you should definitely check out: YSL Rouge Pur Couture The Mats.

These lipsticks are freakishly amazing: creamy without being heavy, matte without looking flat, long-lasting without being drying. They’re super comfortable on the lips and if you wear them long enough for them to actually wear off, they do so evenly and leave a pretty stain behind.

I have two out of the six shades available: 201 Orange Imagine and 208 Fuchsia Fetiche (scroll gallery above for swatches). They both are beautifully pigmented and go on opaque in one stroke. 201 is a warm-toned red I purchased about three years ago when it first came out and have been loving ever since. 208, a more recent addition to my collection, is a bright raspberry color that will suit a very wide range of skin tones. Same amazing quality, slightly different packaging.

I don’t really know why this product is not raved about at all or why YSL hasn’t developed the line much, as this is definitely one of the best formulas I’ve ever tried. Is it expensive? YES. But if you ever want to splurge on a lipstick, this is THE lipstick you should splurge on.

The colors are indeed beautiful, but I think the texture is their most impressive feature! If you ever try one, you’ll immediately know what I’m talking about 😉

beautiful colours… I have the hydrating formula of these lipsticks but never tried the mat.. do you recommend their formula over a Mac matte lipstick?

I like MAC’s mattes, but these are just incredible. The formula feels so luxurious and glides and sort of melts onto the lips effortlessly.
