I may not like fall weather (what an understatement!), but I definitely love fall makeup. Coppery bronze smoky eyes and dark vampy lips?! YES, PLEASE, with a side order of rouge noir nail polish!
I have to admit that I don’t wear nail polish on a daily basis, but when I do, these days, it’s usually something very, very dark. I think that this type of shades can look really chic and elegant, but in my opinion they have to be worn exclusively on short nails. Sorry to all the long nail lovers out there, but the Evil Queen is not exactly my style icon! 😉
My top picks this season are:
- Nails inc. Victoria: I don’t own Chanel Rouge Noir, but this is supposed to be a perfect dupe. For those of you who don’t speak French, it’s a black red.
- OPI Honk If You Love OPI: A dark eggplant color.
- SEPHORA Expert Manicure 15 Divine Purple: The only non-blackened shade I’ve reached for lately is this pretty magenta berry (it’s actually way cooler than it looks in the picture).
- Collistar Gloss Nail Lacquer 588 Paola Green: This blackened green might very well be my favorite of the bunch.
- Essie Lady Godiva: A very pretty chocolate brown.
- OPI Incognito In Sausalito: When OPI launched their San Francisco Collection I knew that I had to get at least one shade. I finally opted for this beautiful blackened blue, which I absolutely love.
What are you wearing on your nails these days? Do seasons influence the colors you pick?

November 5, 2015 at 6:17 pmWell, you already know my picks since I posted about them a few weeks ago. Lady Godiva and that blue OPI nail polish are stunning! I really like darker polishes for fall too, they are very elegant indeed! And I wear nail polish all the time!

November 5, 2015 at 9:39 pmI’m not a nail polish wearer either, I normally can’t be bothered to paint, wait, paint and wait again, but I’ve been really enjoying wearing nudes or earthy shades. As you’ve said, blackened polishes tend to look better on short nails and mines are long hahaha.
Nice post, Carol! xox

November 5, 2015 at 10:38 pmThey do influence me, absolutely. And I prefer any nail color on short nails, to be honest, the long ones, especially when pointy, don’t appeal to me. But each to their own, of course!

November 6, 2015 at 5:37 pmThese are the perfect shades for fall! My nails are always short; I would like them to be a little bit longer but I don’t get accustomed to them. Have a great weekend, Carol!

November 6, 2015 at 7:55 pmYeah, when I think of fall, dark nails are definitely part of the look. I really like the OPI Honk If You Love OPI color! Like you, I don’t paint my nails that often but lately I’ve been more into neutral colors. Maybe since it’s actually starting to feel like fall in SoCal I’ll try out these darker shades (plus it helps I have short nails haha). Lovely post!

November 6, 2015 at 9:13 pmI think dark shades are great for fall… especially dark eggplant! What a beauty! But for now I am still sticking to more brown, orange and plum shades! Just a bit on the lighter side 😀 the colder it gets.. the darker I’ll go (technically my nails are light blue right now lol).

November 7, 2015 at 12:11 amI never quite understood the whole season influence on beauty products and fashion back when I was living in Malaysia but now that I’m in Canada, I noticed myself being drawn to darker shades in Autumn. I have been wearing Aurora nail polish in a very dark purple which I received from ipsy non stop. It’s gel like and last forever!

November 7, 2015 at 1:50 amThe season influences what I wear on my nails A LOT, probably more than what I wear on my eyes and lips. I’ve just switched to fall colors (just started to get cooler here) and I fell in love with China Glaze Sleeping Under the Stars from their fall collection. It’s a deep blue that looks very similar to the OPI you have here, but it has a bit of pink shimmer peeking through. It’s not only a stunning shade, it’s also opaque in ONE coat! Being lazy and clumsy I love that 😛
