Too Faced Natural Matte Palette: Review + #FOTD

Too Faced Natural Matte Eyeshadow Palette Review Swatches LookL to R: Heaven, Cashmere Bunny, Sexpresso, Lace Teddy, Strapless, Risqué, Nudie, Honey Butter, Chocolate Cookie

The Too Faced Natural Matte is probably my most-reached-for eyeshadow palette of all time. The reason why I use it so often is that its shadows not only work great on their own, but are also ideal to complement shimmery looks and, depending on the shade, act as transition, liner or highlighter.

Too Faced Natural Matte Eyeshadow Palette Review Swatches LookI love how portable this palette is: the metal case fits in the palm of my hand and its magnetic closure makes it safe enough to throw in my bag. The quality of its 9 shadows is good, but not amazing: most of them are on the powdery side and Risqué definitely lacks pigmentation. They blend easily, but not effortlessly.

What I like the most about the Too Faced Natural Matte is that, no matter the look I go for, it always has my back and covers all the eye contouring needs I may have. Moreover, if you like an all-matte eye look, which I find very chic and elegant, this palette is also perfectly self-sufficient. One of my favorite ways to use it is to apply:

  • Heaven (buttercream) all over the lid up to the brow to set the primer
  • Strapless (rosy brown) on the mobile lid
  • Chocolate Cookie (warm brown) in the crease
  • Essence Gel Eye Pencil in Cocoa Bean (chocolate brown) in the upper and lower rims
  • Sexpresso (dark brown) to smoke out the lower lash line
  • Risqué (purpley brown) to intensify the outer half of the upper lash line
  • Heaven to subtly highlight the brow bone and inner corner

Too Faced Natural Matte Eyeshadow Palette Review Swatches LookThe other day I wore this look for 11 hours and the shadows didn’t crease (on top of Too Faced Shadow Insurance primer), but looked slightly faded before I took them off.

Do you have any all-matte neutral palettes? Do you find them as versatile as I do or too boring for your taste?

Awesome to read that it meets your needs even though it’s not that pigmented. I have the Urban Decay 2 and love creating everyday looks with it.

I don’t have an all-matte palette, mainly because they are rare and I don’t own many palettes. If I bought one (I don’t see that happening anytime soon), it would probably be this one. The colors and the pigmentation make it appear like the perfect crease/transition colors, which is where I use my mattes most of the time.

This palette looks so gorgeous on you! I asked my boyfriend to get me this for Christmas and I am so happy I did now. I love Too Faced palettes so much, as the quality and pigmentation never fails me. Also I love the neutral, warm matte shades, so it will never get boring to me.:)

I prefer matte eye shadows more than shimmery ones, however like Anne I don’t have all matte ones but mix of both. 11 hour lasting is pretty impressive as most of the time my eye shadows crease and face away after a few hours. These nude/brown tones really suit brown eyes.

Carol, thank you so much for this review! I am a huge fan of matte eyeshadows, but most of them wouldn’t stay for the whole day. So this palette looks like something I need ASAP, lol. I love every colour and that natural smokey-eye look you created. Have an amazing weekend!

I love this kind of palettes! I think they’re really versatile and useful as (at least) I don’t tend wear a lot of shimmers on my crease.
I don’t have any matte palettes, but I love Kiko Infinity High Pigmented Eyeshadows which you can put in a palette haha.
Have a great day, Carol xx

I have this palette…I’ve had it since April but I’ve never reviewed it. I also have the It Cosmetics Vol 1 palette which is also all matte. I love the Too Faced one though, especially on days where I don’t want to look overly made up or too shimmer

I’ve never tried this palette, but I’m realizing that I actually don’t have very many eyeshadow palettes to begin with! I really like the colors on this one though and can definitely see wearing it casually. Great review!

Super pretty product and look! I’ve swatched the palette at Sephora and really love the formula, but I’m trying to stay away from buying shadows! I love wearing mattes because it’s not loud and shimmery but it catches attention!

Come to think about it, nope, I actually don’t own a matte palette. The ones I have are a good mixture of shimmer, matte and glitter. I really need to give Too Faced a try, believe it or not, I have yet to try anything from the brand!

I have the Tarte Tartelette and I feel like that’s kinda enough for me as I like colourful looks a lot. To be honest I only wear nude shades in winter. This palette looks great though, I really like the range of shades in it. 🙂

So beautiful! I like that it’s decidedly warm, and you’re right, it’s like a library of transition shades! I discovered the power of a good transition shade only recently, and now I’m obsessed with them.

This palette is beautiful and I love the colours and warm tones in it. But I tend to reach for shimmery shades more than mattes so not sure this would be the one for me. 🙂
