What more could I want than a makeup collection that combines my favorite season and my favorite brand?
Well, quite honestly, nothing.
In my nearly 31 years on this planet, I’ve learned to rejoice in the little things, and the Chanel summer 2017 makeup launches are definitely bringing me A LOT of joy.
A few pieces from the Chanel Cruise Collection 2017 and Les Beiges range
For the summer, the French maison is not only releasing a Cruise Collection called “Les Indispensables de l’Été”, but also expanding the Les Beiges range with a handful of new pieces.
Let’s have a look at those I had the pleasure to test out!
Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow Luminous Colour in Medium ($58 on Chanel.com)
WARNING: Staring at the surface of this powder longer than 5 seconds will trigger very vivid daydreams of walking on the golden dunes of a remote sandy beach. Getting back to reality will be extremely hard.
GURRRL, the Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow Luminous Colour, the centrepiece of the Cruise Collection, is just as dreamy on the skin as it looks in the compact.
It’s an iridescent bronzer that imparts very believable luminosity to the complexion and, just like the OG Les Beiges powder, is practically impossible to overdo.
Medium is the perfect shade to give me the ultimate golden tan and I’m completely in love with it!
Chanel Le Vernis Longwear Nail Colour in 558 Sargasso ($28 on Chanel.com)
Wearing two coats of the Chanel Le Vernis Longwear Nail Colour in 558 Sargasso
I like this name! It evokes pirate tales and nautical mysteries…
But I like the shade even more!
It’s a deep blue interspersed with the finest green sparkles. It has a cream finish on the nails, but looks more blue or more green depending on the light – it really looks like the color of the ocean or, I guess, of the Sargasso Sea.
Chanel Rouge Coco Stylo Complete Care Lipshine in 227 Esquisse ($37 on Chanel.com)
To complete this imaginary marine landscape, the Chanel Cruise Collection also includes a Rouge Coco Stylo in a pretty coral shade called Esquisse.
Its highly moisturizing formula literally melts upon contact with the lips, so my favorite way to wear this is to lightly dab it on the lips and then smush it in with my finger.
Like I mentioned earlier, alongside the Cruise Collection, this summer Chanel is adding three more products to their Les Beiges range: an aqua-gel cushion foundation, a new shade of Sheer Colour Stick, and an eye palette, all of which I’ve been lucky enough to try.
Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow Gel-Touch Foundation SPF 25 in shade 40
I’m currently wishing I didn’t have oily skin even more than I’ve ever done so that I could use the beautiful Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow Gel-Touch Foundation.
Its lightweight aqua-gel formula is super cooling on the skin, which makes it a real pleasure to apply, and the finish is subtly dewy. Sadly my oily skin needs something a bit more mattifying (Chanel Perfection Lumière Velvet is my go-to foundation), but if you’re normal to dry and like a lighter coverage, good chances are you’re going to love this.
I was sent shade 40, which is definitely too dark for me at the moment, but that didn’t stop me from testing it thoroughly – which means I went to the office three days in a row looking like some sort of mythological monster with the body of the Da Vinci Code’s villain and the head of JLo.

Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow Sheer Colour Stick in 23
The Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow Sheer Colour Stick in shade 23 really does what it says on the tin, as it gives my cheeks a beautifully healthy coral glow. The sheer formula means that it’s impossible to overapply and its minuscule sparkles reflect the light in the most flattering way.
Yes, I’m a fan!
Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow Natural Eyeshadow Palette
With the Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow Natural Eyeshadow Palette you just can’t get your eye makeup wrong. Its shadows are on the sheerer side and super easy to blend – perfect for an effortless natural look.
Its neutral/cool shades don’t really go with the warmth of the other products I’ve featured, but I still wanted to use it in my Chanel summer 2017 makeup look. ⬇️
Today I’m wearing the Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow Gel-Touch Foundation in 40, the Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow Luminous Colour in Medium, and the Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow Sheer Colour Stick in 23 on my complexion, the Chanel Rouge Coco Stylo in Esquisse on my lips, and the Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow Natural Eyeshadow Palette on my eyes.
Swatches of all the products mentioned in the post with the exception of the Le Vernis Longwear Nail Colour in 558 Sargasso, which you’ve seen above. L – R: Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow Natural Eyeshadow Palette (the lightest shade in the palette is invisible on my skin), Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow Luminous Colour in Medium, Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow Gel-Touch Foundation in 40, Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow Sheer Colour Stick in 23, and Chanel Rouge Coco Stylo Complete Care Lipshine in 227 Esquisse
My final thoughts?
If the words “foolproof”, “effortless”, and “natural” speak to your makeup soul, I’m sure you’ll love the Chanel summer 2017 releases as much as I do.
