Chocolate must be the #1 worldwide comfort food and, although I don’t have a particularly sweet tooth, from time to time I still get those chocolate cravings that only a Lindor truffle or two (or six!) can satisfy. There is just something about chocolate that makes you want it compulsively, don’t you think?
I guess that the genius people at Too Faced had that in mind when they thought of creating cocoa-infused makeup that actually smells like chocolate. And they were so successful that many more brands have launched chocolate-inspired products since then. Keep reading to find out about those I have in my collection!
TOO FACED: Let’s begin with the product that started it all, which (as far as I know) is the Chocolate Soleil, a very finely milled, warm-toned matte bronzer that doesn’t look orange. After its huge success, the California-based cosmetics company launched a number of other cocoa-enriched products, among which are the Chocolate Bar Eyeshadow Palette and the Cocoa Powder Foundation. I have the latter and utterly love it (it was one of my September Favorites): it mattifies my skin nicely without looking cakey or flat.
SEPHORA: With its mouth-watering scent, the Chocolate Moisturizing Hand Cream makes taking care of your hands a real treat. It hydrates nicely and doesn’t leave any greasy residue. I love it and think it would make a great stocking filler.
ZOEVA: I’ve already raved about the Cocoa Blend Eyeshadow Palette a number of times, so I will spare you the details. Long story short, it features an amazing selection of high quality shadows and is super affordable! Check out my review for swatches and more info.
ESSIE: (Lady) Godiva isn’t only the name of a noblewoman who rode naked through the streets of Coventry and of a famous Belgian chocolate manufacturer, but also of a dark chocolate brown nail polish that I love wearing in the fall and winter (you may remember it from my Fall 2015 Nail Polish Edit).
ESSENCE: Sweet Like Chocolate is a super pretty and versatile eyeshadow that provides a nice luminosity to the lids and a pretty wash of light brown color (you may see it in action here). Cocoa Bean is a Gel Eye Pencil that performs well in the waterline or smudged along the lash line (check out my full review if you haven’t already).
SHISEIDO: I got the Perfecting Lipstick in Warm Cocoa ages ago and it was discontinued in the meantime. I love how this color looks on my lips, but I don’t like that it’s not matte. As I say all the time, I very much prefer a matte finish for darker lipsticks, because I don’t need to worry about them smudging or bleeding. So if you’re considering getting a lipstick in a similar shade, I highly recommend you go for a matte or a liquid formula (which is the most fuss-free bold lip option, in my opinion).
Products used in the photo above:
COMPLEXION: Too Faced Cocoa Powder Foundation in Golden Light (on top of Chanel Perfection Lumière Velvet in B20) and Chocolate Soleil Bronzer (it was very bright when I took the picture, so you can’t really see the bronzer, sorry!).
EYES: Bitter Start and Freshly Toasted from Zoeva Cocoa Blend and Essence Gel Eye Pencil Waterproof in Cocoa Bean.
LIPS: Shiseido Perfecting Lipstick in Warm Cocoa.
Are you guys fans of chocolate-scented/inspired beauty products? And what about the real deal? Is it a comfort food for you?

November 23, 2015 at 11:03 amAs I said in my full review, it’s really good (especially considering it’s only a couple of bucks!) but almost impossible to sharpen, so I mainly use it in the waterline or smudged along the lash line.

November 22, 2015 at 2:19 pmAfter seeing your Instagram post, you got me craving for some hot chocolate and now this post makes me crave for chocolate, luckily now I am having my coffee and eating some chocolate, unfortunately it is not Lindor truffle! I think I only have one chocolate scented product however I’d like to have more. Chocolate/Brown shades really suits you, I am not a fan of brown lips as it doesn’t suit me, you really pull it off! x

November 22, 2015 at 5:14 pmHi sweetie! I love anything chocalate scented haha. I have the Chocalate Bronzer by Too Faced and it’s the nicest thing to apply all over my face hahaha.
I love chocolate tones as well, specially on the eyes (a matte chocolate shadow is a beautiful as it gets a versatile transition shade in my opinion).
And I looove chocolate, but I’m allergic to it, so… I’m so sad haha.
Have an amazing day, lovely. Amazing post as always ^^

November 23, 2015 at 1:07 amMany years ago Bourjois had a bronzer shaped like a chocolate bar. I don’t remember if it smelled like chocolate (I think so but not sure), that’s the first chocolate-inspired makeup item I can remember!
