‘…the water is freezing, but I’m so taken by the beauty of my surroundings that I don’t really notice it. I don’t even care that my black designer dress is getting completely soaked… I feel like I could bathe in this fountain forever…’
***
Sorry, folks, but the palette I’m sharing with you today got me daydreaming! Charlotte Tilbury’s The Dolce Vita instantly brings to mind Federico Fellini’s homonymous movie and the iconic scene where Anita Ekberg and Marcello Mastroianni bathe in the Trevi Fountain in Rome.
[Side note: Make sure you add ‘going to the Trevi Fountain at night’ to your travel bucket list, if you haven’t already. I’ve only done it once so far, almost 10 years ago, but I’ll never forget it. I remember hearing the sound of the water and feeling the anticipation growing while I was walking in the narrow alleys leading to the fountain. Then, when I suddenly reached Piazza di Trevi, a scene of breathtaking beauty laid out in front of me: the fountain, the lights, the sound of the splashing water and the couples staring lovingly into each other’s eyes were such an emotionally moving sight it made me wanna cry.]
Let’s set movies and monuments aside and focus on Charlotte Tilbury’s bestselling quad. So, first things first: do I regret dropping 60 euro (yep, SIX-TY – 50 + 10 for shipping) on a tiny little palette?! Honestly – not in the least! The shadows in The Dolce Vita quad are everything you hear they are: pigmented, easy to blend, buttery and long-wearing.
Even though there are no matte shades, I think you can still use the palette on its own, as the two browns are not overly shimmery when sheered out in the crease. The bottom left shade is a beautiful glittery top coat that you’re supposed to press on the center of the lid with your finger. The sparkles are so fine that they give an almost wet look to the shadows beneath. SO. FREAKING. BEAUTIFUL.
On the lips I’m wearing KIKO Glossy Dream Sheer Lipstick in 201 Beige Rose, which I reviewed here.
For today’s look I applied the top right shade all over the mobile lid and blended the bottom right shade in the outer corner and in the crease. Then I applied a black kohl pencil on the waterline and smoked out the lower lashline with the bottom right shade. Next, I pressed the glittery shade on the center of the lid using my finger and lined the eyes with STILA Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner (my favorite!). To finish off the look I should’ve highlighted my inner corner with the top right shade, but I forgot! 😉
Have you ever tried anything from Charlotte Tilbury’s range? I have my eyes on the Rock Chick palette now… :-/ And have you ever seen the Trevi Fountain at night? If not, are you tempted to go?

February 6, 2016 at 5:39 pmI have only seen the Trevi Fountain by day and when we were in a rush, so no magic movie moment for me. But I was in Rome practically by accident, so I plan on going back and really enjoy it someday.

February 7, 2016 at 5:00 amWhat a beautiful palette! It would probably not be my own choice in terms of colors, because of that very red brown, but it looks really beautiful on you.
I’ve been to the Trevi fountain by day a couple times, but I don’t think I ever saw it at night. I have to put that on my bucket list. Of course it would have been a lot easier and cheaper to cross that off the list when I lived in France. Oh well, hopefully I’ll have an opportunity to travel soon!

February 8, 2016 at 2:11 amI’ve only seen the Trevi fountain during the day (and surrounded by other tourists) but I would love to see it at night! I feel like everything just looks so much more magical at night, but I could be biased as someone who’s very much a night owl. Also, I’ve been wanting to get my hands on the Dolce Vita palette, but I can’t stand spending SO much money on ONE tiny palette… maybe someday though!
I love the look you created, you look so pretty 🙂

February 8, 2016 at 3:50 amTo answer your question, I am SO tempted to go now that you’ve painted such a beautiful picture of it. I have to keep that in mind when I plan my honeymoon.
This palette looks. so. GORGEOUS. I don’t think you even need the inner corner highlight, it just looks so beautiful. Between you and Lulle my buy list just keeps growing!
