#LipstickWeek, Part 3 of 3: Diego Dalla Palma Geisha Matte Liquid Lipstick in 04 Kyoto Nights (€19.90)
For my #LipstickWeek makeup, I decided to use the cool tones from the NARS Long Hot Summer Eyeshadow Palette on my eyes and the Urban Decay Beached Bronzer in Sun-Kissed (which is very subtle and not particularly warm for a bronzer) on my complexion.
I think it looked pretty good with the first two lipsticks (the Giorgio Armani Lip Magnet in 507 Garçonne and the Clinique Pop Matte Lip Color + Primer in 06 Rose Pop), but when I put deep, warm-toned brown Diego Dalla Palma Kyoto Nights on my lips I looked ghastly, to say the least.
Since it was actually Halloween and I had just inadvertently created the perfect zombie look, I considered leaving it like that (for about two seconds), but then decided to pat a warm shadow from the same NARS palette on top of my existing eye look, and swipe a bit of NARS Laguna (a much warmer bronzer than the Urban Decay one) in the crease, on my cheeks and sides of the forehead.
Wearing the Diego Dalla Palma Geisha Matte Liquid Lipstick in 04 Kyoto Nights on my lips, the NARS Long Hot Summer Eyeshadow Palette on my eyes, and the NARS Bronzing Powder in Laguna on my complexion
Not a perfect look (I’d pair an even warmer eye with Kyoto Nights), but at least I knew I could go out and be seen in public without anyone fearing I wanted to eat their brain. 😉 A quick change of undertone in my eye and face makeup was all it took.
Now, this doesn’t mean that you always have to use either cool or warm tones, but if you look in the mirror and something looks off with your makeup, it might be worth trying to match your eye/lip/face undertones.
And after this little tip from me to you, let’s focus on the lipstick in question!
Dark shades are not the easiest to formulate, but Diego Dalla Palma really hit it out of the park with the Geisha Matte Liquid Lipstick in 04 Kyoto Nights. Besides looking perfectly even and streak-free upon application, this deep chocolaty brown doesn’t fade unevenly in like an hour, like many dark lipsticks tend to do. Also, I’m sure you’ll be pleased to hear that, despite it dries down to a completely matte finish, it’s still comfortable and non-drying.
In case I’ve piqued your interest, just know that DiegoDallaPalma.com ships to most European countries, and if you’re in the UK, you can also find the brand at M&S.
And this is it for #LipstickWeek!
At which point I should probably tell you that I won’t talk about any more lipsticks for at least two months, but, let’s be real, that would be like a serial cheater saying they won’t cheat anymore… ‘nam saying? What I can promise is that I won’t mention any lipsticks for at least a week… 😉 As a matter of fact, my next post will feature a new gorgeous eyeshadow palette. Make sure you don’t miss it by following me on social media!
Did you already know Diego Dalla Palma? And would you ever wear a deep chocolaty brown like the Geisha Matte Liquid Lipstick in 04 Kyoto Nights?

November 8, 2016 at 4:38 amI’m very warm tone so I tend to stay away from cool toned eyeshadows. I’ve tried many times and it just makes me look like the walking dead. I can pull off cool tone lipstick though but eyeshadows, no, just no.

November 8, 2016 at 5:12 pm#LipstickWeek was pretty good, looking forward to seeing more lipstick posts later on 😉 Kyoto nights is gorgeous! Is there any lipstick colour that you can’t pull off? Like others I prefer warmer tones so I’d imagine wearing something like that with really warm toned eye makeup.

November 12, 2016 at 1:27 pmAh this make-up look is so beautiful Carol! I love that you used Laguna to bronze up your eyes and face. Such a quick trick that added a lovely amount of warmth to your look. I really want to check out some of the Diego Dalla Palma make-up in Marks & Spencers’ now. I’m in there at least 3 times a week anyway, getting food shopping haha!:D
