Why shouldn’t I talk about the weather?
Well, first of all, talking about the weather is so banal, isn’t it? It’s what you do to break the silence when you meet your neighbor in the elevator, so I should really be able to come up with a more interesting subject, shouldn’t I?
Second of all, every time (EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.) I tell you how much I’m loving the current weather (July was amazing – too hot for some people, but definitely not for me), I somehow create a low-pressure area just above Italy that attracts all the clouds in the world and then it rains for a month.
I’m telling you, it’s been scientifically proven.
It happened last spring (some of you may still remember that) and it’s happening again today: I only thought of writing about the weather this morning and it started raining for the first time in forever…
Ha, I did manage to talk about the weather, after all. How dull am I?! 😉
Now that we’ve all acknowledged my lack of originality, we can easily move on to the least original post in the history of blog posts: the monthly favorites.
Enjoy!
Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Medium/Deep Matte Bronzer ($30)
If you’ve been following this blog for a while, you’ll probably know that I have a thing for bronzers and have quite a collection.
Problem is that, having only one face to bronze up, some real gems like the Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Bronzer sometimes remain untouched for weeks, or months, even.
But in July I rediscovered my love for it and used it tons. It’s the perfect shade of brown to bronze my complexion and subtly sculpt at the same time. And it’s very finely-milled and super easy to blend.
I can definitely get past the fact that I don’t like Too Faced packaging. 😉
MADINA Chic & Shine Highlighting Stick (€15)
If you’ve been following this blog for a while, you’ll probably also know that I rarely use highlighter, and that’s for two main reasons:
- I have oily skin, and when you have a full arsenal of mattifying primers, matte foundations, mattifying powders, and blotting papers at your service, voluntarily adding shine to your face seems a little counterproductive.
- I like my complexion to look as natural as possible, and metallic cheekbones really clash with that.
Well, over the past month I’ve been loving using the MADINA Chic & Shine Highlighting Stick (sadly, you can only get it in Italy) on top of my cheekbones. The thing is that it doesn’t look metallic at all. Just juicy and pretty. And natural.
It’s hard to capture on camera, but if you want to try and see it in action, I was wearing it together with the Too Faced bronzer in my previous post.
Charlotte Tilbury Hot Lips Matte Revolution Lipstick in Electric Poppy ($32)
The Charlotte Tilbury Hot Lips Matte Revolution Lipstick in Electric Poppy is phenomenal. Did you see how it completely lit up my face in my review?
The shade is stunning, the formula is fantastic, and the packaging is plush. What more could you want?
KIKO Creamy Colour Comfort Lip Liner in 308 Geranium ($7)
The KIKO Creamy Colour Comfort Lip Liner in 308 Geranium is the perfect complement to the fuchsia lipsticks I’m loving this summer, like Electric Poppy or my beloved YSL Rouge Pur Couture The Mats in 208 Fuchsia Fetiche.
It’s very creamy (you can definitely use it on its own) but still has good lasting-power. For the price it’s an amazing lip liner – I highly recommend it!
YSL Vinyl Couture Mascara in 5 I’m The Trouble (LE)
Now, it’s not like blue mascara has replaced black in my makeup bag (far from it!), but it’s been nice to switch things up from time to time.
The YSL Vinyl Couture Mascara in 5 I’m The Trouble is so vibrant that it can make a whole look on its own – perfect for summer if you ask me.
If you want to see how well it shows up on my dark lashes, check out my full review.
That’s all, folks! Do you have any recent favorites you’d like to share with me?

August 6, 2016 at 9:36 amI remember my first trip to Italy 3 years ago (1 night in Florence + 3 nights in Rome). I remember it being super hot and humid, and then raining on my 2nd to last day in Rome. I have a mini version of the Too Faced bronzer from last year and I am just starting to use it again! I love how amazing it smells too! I got a few eyeshadows and a matte lipstick from Kiko (I previously ordered some lip glosses that were not good at all), and I can’t wait to review them!

I’m so curious to see the products you got from KIKO. I hope you liked them better than the glosses!

August 6, 2016 at 9:48 amI actually don’t mind you talking about the weather, especially because the makeup we choose to wear and buy depends so much on the good or bad weather!! I know I can always do a connection between your favourites and your introduction, which is nice!! Lovely picks! I will be in London very soon and I think I will for sure visit the CT shop!!

August 7, 2016 at 12:16 pmHaha, I’m glad you don’t mind me talking about the weather! 😉
Yes, you have to stop by the CT store while in London. I personally LOVE the to Matte Revolution Lipsticks I have and the Dolce Vita quad. Enjoy your trip!

August 6, 2016 at 3:18 pmHaha, you jinxed the weather, sorry. I don’t like metallic on my cheek bones either. I mean I use them but sometimes I feel like it just doesn’t look right. I am yet to try the blue mascara. Honestly, I may be the last one to get on board with it. You’re right though, its great to switch things up once in a while. Great products. Happy weekend.

August 6, 2016 at 4:30 pmI have Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Bronzer in shade Medium/Deep too but it didn’t quite work on me. It barely showed up on my skin tone but I think it’s because I’m so tan now and hopefully it’ll work better for me in Autumn/Winter.

August 7, 2016 at 6:27 pmThe weather over here is as moody as a woman on a period, keeps changing and today is cloudy instead of sunny. 🙁
I have a mini too faced bronzer that I don’t use enough and reading this reminded me to take it out! The CT matte revolution lipsticks are so effin gorgeous but I shouldn’t buy anymore lipsticks ><

August 8, 2016 at 2:34 pmHaha, I totally understand not needing to buy any more lipsticks! #thestruggleisreal

August 7, 2016 at 11:05 pmI’m the same as you Carol and I definitely have a thing for bronzers! I LOVE the Too Faced Soleil ones so much. I have it in the Milk Chocolate shade and it’s perfect for getting an overall, sun kissed glow. But I definitely want to purchase it in just the Chocolate shade to contour with – the formula is so beautiful. Oooo and the Charlotte Tilbury lipstick looks so gorgeous! I’ve only tried her K.I.S.S.I.N.G formula, but that’s really beautiful too. The YSL mascara looked so lovely on you, I remember reading your review on it. I’m still yet to try out a coloured mascara, like I said I would haha.

August 8, 2016 at 2:38 pmMilk Chocolate would probably be better for my natural skin tone, as I can only use the shade I have in the summer when I’m a little darker. Oh, and the CT lipstick has definitely become one of my all-time faves!

August 7, 2016 at 11:13 pmThat Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Bronze sounds delicious.. is it scented?

August 8, 2016 at 2:40 pmIt’s supposed to smell like chocolate. It used to when I first got it, but know the scent is fainter.

August 8, 2016 at 5:30 amI just got a travel-size of Chocolate Soleil in my Sephora Play box last month, but I haven’t even gotten around to try it yet! Okay I’ll try it tomorrow. Adding a bit of chocolate-scented bronzer to a Monday morning should help, right?

August 8, 2016 at 10:52 pmThe problem of having just one face… I feel you on that. Too bad that layering bronzers isn’t a thing, it works quite well with skincare.

August 9, 2016 at 9:16 amI would love to try the Charlotte Tilbury Matte Lipstick because I have yet to find a matte lipstick that I like or that stays on long enough. Maybe this one is the answer? It looks promising. Regardless, thank you for the breakdown of these fabulous products!

August 9, 2016 at 4:19 pmI use the Light shade in the Too Faced Chocolate Soleil bronzer and it’s one of my top 3 bronzers. And the chocolate scent is always a nice addition!
Here the summer has been extremely hot and, to be honest, I am ready for fall!

August 9, 2016 at 4:30 pmNo no no, please, feel free to talk about the weather, I do so in pretty much EVERY blog post – and probably because I’m British? haha 😉 The Too Faced Chocolate Bronzer looks so gorgeous, and I love the wildcard blue YSL mascara!

August 9, 2016 at 4:56 pmI should complain about how bad the weather is then maybe it will end up being hot as Sahara *fingers crossed* How often do you use that blue mascara? When I was a teenager, I didn’t mind wearing colourful mascaras however now I can’t seem to leave my comfort zone.

August 11, 2016 at 6:01 pmI’ve been using it about a couple of times a week. I want to use it as much as I can this summer, because I’m sure it’ll go bad before next summer, and I really don’t see myself reaching for it in the colder months.
