KIKO Bright Duo Baked Eyeshadows in 06 Golden Ivory – Bronze, 15 Shimmery Mauve – Metallic Burgundy, and 21 Metallic Jade Green – Shimmery Ash
Have you ever seen Elementary?
Well, in case you haven’t, it’s a TV series featuring a modern-day Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Joan Watson.
Nope, that’s not a typo. Dr. Watson is a woman – and let me tell you that I love the idea!
I especially love it because she’s not just Sherlock’s sidekick, but they have a very equal partnership, as friends (no romance, I promise!) and detectives.
They’re an exceptionally bright duo, and I highly recommend the show if you’ve never seen it.
Speaking of bright duos… Did you know that KIKO just recently launched a new range of baked eyeshadows called Bright Duos (they’re available in most markets, but the US will have to wait a little longer, I think)?
I’ve tried three out of the 24 available (06 Golden Ivory – Bronze, 15 Shimmery Mauve – Metallic Burgundy, 21 Metallic Jade Green – Shimmery Ash), and, well, unfortunately, Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Joan Watson are the only bright duo I highly recommend…

Wanna know why?
KIKO Bright Duo Baked Eyeshadow in 06 Golden Ivory – Bronze
KIKO Bright Duo Baked Eyeshadow in 15 Shimmery Mauve – Metallic Burgundy
KIKO Bright Duo Baked Eyeshadow in 21 Metallic Jade Green – Shimmery Ash
For starters, the KIKO Bright Duo Baked Eyeshadows (£8.90 each) are supposed to be used either dry or wet, but I find that it’s hard to pick up any product with a dry brush, so I always use them wet. Problem is that when used wet, the shades are almost impossible to blend together to get a nice transition.
Also, since these are called ‘Bright Duos’, I was expecting the colors to be… well, brighter! #21 Jade Green looks pretty dull on the lid and the #15 Shimmery Mauve – Metallic Burgundy duo gives a very unflattering bruise effect.
06 Golden Ivory – Bronze is definitely my favorite, but unfortunately it’s not particularly long-lasting (even on top of the NARS Pro-Prime Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base).
Wearing the KIKO Bright Duo Baked Eyeshadow in 06. I’ve used Bronze all over the lid and along the lower lashline, and Golden Ivory in the inner corner. On the lips I’m wearing the YSL Rouge Pur Couture The Mats in 201 Orange Imagine
Mind you, the KIKO Bright Duo Baked Eyeshadows are not terrible, but these days we’re so spoiled by affordable brands that I was definitely expecting something more. Who knows, maybe the other shades perform better?
Have you tried any of these? Did you have more luck than me? And do you like the idea of Dr. Watson as a woman?

August 1, 2016 at 8:18 pmI was expectign this to be a glowing review since the duos look so pretty in the pan! I was immediately drawn towards the purple one but I guess a bruised look is not what I’m going for, haha.

August 2, 2016 at 8:05 amWell that’s too bad, they look amazing in their compact! And I love a good blue/brown or green/brown combination so I was eyeing the 21. Sadness!

August 2, 2016 at 1:33 pmWhat a shame! I was expecting a really good result but yeah not everything is as good as it looks. Golden ivory looks beautiful in the inner corner. I was watching Sherlock Holmes and only watched a few episodes of Elementary, I need to give it a second chance!

August 2, 2016 at 9:25 pmI like the idea of a woman in Sherlock Holmes. And yes, we are spoiled by so many great options that we are easily disappointed by a product we would have previously loved. That is the downside that comes with our experience, I guess.

August 3, 2016 at 7:47 amYeap, I find it difficult to blend an eyeshadow when wet too, almost impossible. These eyeshadows look so nice on the packaging, too bad they do not perform well. And for their price I think that there are so many affordable options out there the perform really well.

August 3, 2016 at 1:58 pmI can’t believe that these aren’t very pigmented or blendable! I thought that they all looked like such beautiful colours. I was actually thinking of stepping out of my comfort zone and getting some of these. Before I read your post of course, as they look so pretty in your pictures. Hopefully KIKO will reformulate them or bring out better ones!

August 3, 2016 at 2:13 pmLove the color combos, but so annoying though that they’re tricky to use! A deal breaker for me is if they’re easy to blend or not, as I have no patient haha! Xx

August 3, 2016 at 6:11 pmWhat lovely eyeshadows from Kiko! I really like the looks of the 06 and 12 colours because they’re warmer toned. Think the pigmentation of these shadows are lovely, and very impressed by the swatches here!
Lovely looking products and tempted me to stop into the Kiko store next time I’m in London!

August 4, 2016 at 9:11 pmOhhh, what a complete let down! I thought these duos would be brilliant but shame they didn’t work as you hoped. And hell yes to Elementary! I love the show and I can’t wait for the new season to start.

August 10, 2016 at 11:09 amThey look so pretty in the pan! Especially that green! But I agree, there is nothing bright about it. That bronze shade does look lovely on you though!
