A NARS Long Hot Summer Eyeshadow Palette Review & My Climatic Preferences

NARS Long Hot Summer Eyeshadow Palette and NARS #47 Angled Eyeliner Brush

I always hope for a long, hot summer.

Very long. Like, 365-day long.

What? You think that’s too much?

OK, fine, I could do six months summer and six months spring… Yeah, I could live with that.

I’ve always felt like I should’ve been born in San Diego, or on a Caribbean island. I mean, some place where there are no seasons… Just one long, hot summer.

So far the summer out here in Bologna has definitely been hot. I’ll cross my fingers for it being long, too.

But in case it’s not, this year I’m covered. This year I’ll have at least one long, hot summer, in the form of this beautiful eyeshadow palette from NARS.

I saw the NARS Long Hot Summer Eyeshadow Palette for the first time on Makeup and Beauty Blog and, being the NARS lover that I am, I decided that I had to have it.

I know, I know, it’s yet another neutral palette, but what I find particularly appealing is that it features both cool and warm tones – and that’s pretty rare.

I also really like that there are both matte and shimmery shadows, and that the shimmers are very fine and subtle (so if you have textured eyelids, you have nothing to worry about).

My only complaint is that the two warm shimmery shadows are way too similar (bottom left and middle). Had I created the palette, I would have opted for something a little darker than the bottom middle shade.

So, is the NARS Long Hot Summer Eyeshadow Palette a must-have?

Hmmm, I wouldn’t know about that, but then again, what is? But if you’re a NARS fan and want a very compact little palette that still features a selection of both cool and warm tones, I’d say go for it.

Together with the NARS Long Hot Summer Eyeshadow Palette, I also got the NARS #47 Angled Eyeliner Brush. I had been wanting it forever, and I’m extremely happy with my purchase – the bristles have the perfect density, firmness, length and thickness to create an effortless wing.

If you don’t mind splurging on makeup tools (which I usually totally do), this one is definitely a must-have.

Have you tried the NARS Long Hot Summer Eyeshadow Palette? Do you prefer warm- or cool-toned eyeshadows? And do you like summers to be long and hot?

As I’m a huge fall/winter girl, this makes me smile! I agree: it is quite rare to find both cool and warm shades in a same palette, especially when there is also both matte and shimmery shades! This palette is beautiful!

It has been such a hot summer in Istanbul, it was always over 30s(even 35) and now 20 degrees in the UK feels cold. I don’t really like so hot weather but I prefer warmer days over colder days 🙂 I like neutral colours and I think they suit me the most. I love the warm colours in this palette, it is beautiful!

The colors looks so pretty, see what you mean though with the color similarity. A darker one would be preferable! But loved the tone of the palette nevertheless! Xx

I like my summers long and hot, but I fear that if I was born on a carribean island I would probably die from skin cancer pretty early with my pale skin.

That is my kind of palette! Do I need another neutral palette, no but I can’t stop buying them. I am panning to pick up the Smashbox new matte palette, have you seen it? Thoughts?

It looks pretty, but I haven’t seen it in real life. I’d love to see your review if you do get it!

Such a pretty neutral palette! I don’t buy many neutral palettes, but they’re so nice to have on hand.

Also, not sure I could do without Fall. I can definitely do without Winter though. Spring and Fall for me! 🙂

I love the shades in this palette. In Ghana here, we are in the rainy season. So it is really cool here and this palette will be perfect for the weather.

I love a long summer, but not too hot. This palette has a beautiful selection of shades. I’m trying to expand my NARS collection. I really need to dip into their shadows.

I agree Carol, I wish that I lived in a country where the sunshine was unlimited! Every time there’s a glimmer of sun here in London, we all go crazy. Also because we’re so not used to it, if it gets too hot we just don’t know how to deal with it haha. I saw Chloe Morello use this palette in one of her recent tutorials and I was obsessed. I’m so annoyed that it’s not available on the UK NARS website though. I so don’t need another nude, warm tones palette though – on second thoughts I really do haha. – Soft Purple Smoky Eye Tutorial

Hi ! I love a beautiful nude palette! I usually go for these shades – can’t really go wrong with them right? I live in a subtropical country now, and summer is quiet exhausting, the humidity is killing me! but, I can agree with sun and longer brighter days 😀

    Have a great Friday!

I wish the shades were a bit darker but they do compliment your skin tone very nicely! I want that brush though. Karen mentioned it too as being the best eyeliner brush out there!

I like summer but not when it’s too hot! I would prefer spring all year round!

Haha, when I read that you wanted 6 months of spring and 6 months of summer I thought “hey that’s San Diego!”. No we do have a “winter” but it’s very short and not very cold. We’ve never used our heater more than a handful of times per year (except in the bathroom, we use it for several months in the morning).
Back to the palette, it looks pretty but I’m not enough of a Nars fan to justify purchasing it! The angled brush on the other hand looks great. Do you also have the MAC one?

No, I don’t have the MAC one.
I’ve been to San Diego in winter a few times, but it didn’t really feel like winter. It was more like a very nice spring!
When I think I might’ve ended up there… I had a boyfriend from San Diego, who wanted to marry me, but I was 19, so I basically ran as soon as I heard the word “marriage”, LOL.
