When I put something on my wishlist, there are three possible outcomes:
- I buy it.
- It stays on the list for a while but I eventually decide that I don’t really want/need it.
- It takes up permanent residence and I keep lusting after it for months and months, while the beauty lover’s Shakespearean struggle takes place inside my head: to buy or not to buy?
OK, before I write a whole soliloquy imagining Prince Hamlet as a makeup hoarder, please, tell me if you’ve ever tried any of the products that have been on my wishlist forever and your opinion about them. Hopefully, it’ll help me make my decision.
- Charlotte Tilbury’s makeup: I’m pretty sure that if CT had counters in Italy this would belong to number 1 above. Somehow, resisting an online purchase is easier than a physical one, so in my makeup collection there still are no products from this hyper-luxurious range. My wish to own a few pieces is getting stronger and stronger, though… My top picks would be The Dolce Vita eyeshadow quad, the Lip Cheat Lip Liner in Pillow Talk and the K.I.S.S.I.N.G. Lipstick in Penelope Pink (very unusual shade and finish for me).
- Clarisonic Face Cleansing Brush: Is it worth the hype and the $$$??? I have a Sephora 20%-off coupon that I’m thinking to use on this. It would still be pricey, though, so I can’t really decide.
- Lorac PRO Palette: I already have Urban Decay Naked 1, Zoeva Cocoa Blend, Too Faced Natural Matte and Tarte Tartelette. Do I need another neutral palette?! Definitely not, but when it comes to makeup, nothing really is needed… I guess I’ll keep lusting after this one anyway, because even if I decided to buy it, it would be really hard for me to source it!
- Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray: Boy this thing is pricey! I think I’d love the volumizing effect on my hair, but I don’t want to spend 46 (FORTY-SIX!!!) euro on hairspray! Has anyone tried it? Do you know of any good, affordable dupes?
Besides helping me solve an existential dilemma (to buy or not to buy?), I came up with this post because I’ve just started a Photoshop class and wanted to create the image above to practice a couple of things I’ve learnt so far. 😉
So have you ever tried any of the products on my wishlist? What do you think of them? Worth the splurge?

October 10, 2015 at 11:04 amHaha, I’m completely the same with those three outcomes. 😀 Unfortunately I haven’t tried any of these products but the Lorac Pro’s been on my list too for a while.
Never heard of that hairspray but honestly can’t imagine what makes it that expensive! :O

October 10, 2015 at 3:08 pmI wrote a review on the Clarisonic about a year ago, but to be honest, I stopped using it around February and haven’t gotten back into it. With all the chemical exfoliators I use these days, I just don’t think it really is a game changer anymore.

October 10, 2015 at 9:11 pmYeah, I read it last night! It’s good to know your current opinion, thank you! I use AHA’s too, so I probably don’t need any extra-exfoliation either.

October 11, 2015 at 1:25 amSuch a good wish-list Carol, it’s probably everything I’m wanting at the moment too! I am definitely obsessed with Charlotte Tilbury’s make-up at the moment, as I only have 2 pieces. But I also really want to try the Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray, I hear everyone raving about it.

October 11, 2015 at 6:33 amI’m right there with you on the whole wishlist thing. I do the same thing.
I’ve been wanting to try some CT goodies myself. The products look great and really call to me. I just haven’t decided if I really need it or not. I guess it couldn’t hurt to try an item or two…
I recently stopped using my Clarisonic because it started to cause irritation. My cheeks became almost raw and really sensitive. I guess it just didn’t agree with me? Some people really seem to like it and experience great results, unfortunately I’m not one of those people.
Howare you liking the Photoshop class?

October 11, 2015 at 12:07 pmThank you for sharing your experience with Clarisonic.
I’m loving the class! I’ve only learnt about a few basic tools so far, but in my opinion what matters the most is practicing and experimenting – which I found fun, so it doesn’t feel like a chore at all!

October 11, 2015 at 11:12 amI’ve been wanting to try LORAC eyeshadow for ages now! Still haven’t gotten around to actually doing it though…

October 11, 2015 at 3:06 pmI have to say I love my Mia brush. Whenever I stop using it for a while, my skin starts to look much worse and I don’t think it’s just in my head.
I don’t own Lorac Pro palette but I do have Pro 2 and I think it’s my favorite palette (or at least in Top3). It’s super versatile and I love that there is an equal amount of shimmers and mattes. If you can somehow get your hands on a Lorac palette, do it! You deff won’t regret it.
You did a great job on the photo-shopping these images! Sounds like a useful skill to have!

October 12, 2015 at 8:51 amThanks for your feedback on Clarisonic and Lorac! Sadly, last time I was in the States I couldn’t find any Ultas, otherwise that palette would be mine by now. I’ll just have to wait until the next trip! 😉

October 11, 2015 at 10:30 pmThis is actually a really good list! I have so many products on my list that I want but I also know that I don’t need or I won’t ever use. I heard a lot of people raving about that hair spray however like you said paying 46€ is something I don’t want to do or I won’t ever do! x

October 12, 2015 at 1:15 pmIt’s so cool that you’ve started a Photoshop class! 🙂 If one day you decide to make a post about what you’ve learnt, please-please let me know on my blog, I want to be sure I don’t miss it! I’m so bad at taking photos :*( Maybe one day I have to take a class as well…
Well, back to the wish list! 🙂 If I were you I wouldn’t buy a Clarisonic Brush:
1) You will need to repurchase brush heads regularly (+$$)
2) The brush is not good for sensitive skin and shouldn’t be used if there are any blemishes on the skin.
3) This kind of brushes are not very hygienic.
Have you ever considered Foreo Luna? I find it a way better. Although honestly I wouldn’t say that it is 100% worth the price (probably it is expensive due to lack of competitors ) I still love it and use it regularly. I’ve never seen anything similar to it on the market . By the way, you can charge it quickly from a laptop and I’ve done it only 2 or 3 times for the whole year! It’s worth to read some reviews about it and see if you like it 🙂
Have a good day, beautiful! xx

October 12, 2015 at 2:35 pmI do the exact same thing with the wish list, I’ve been wanting to try Lorac PRO Palette for a while now! That is amazing that you are taking a photoshop course. I tried photoshop a couple years ago, but got to busy to keep up with it. If you ever decide to do a post on photoshop I would love to read it!

October 12, 2015 at 10:35 pmTo be honest these are on my permanent list as well. I keep hearing about them but I’ve never actually made the leap to purchase them. I think the first on my list is the Clarisonic face brush. :]

October 12, 2015 at 10:53 pmYeah I’ve had products in my wishlist for… years.
I can’t really help you with your list because I haven’t tried any of these items. I also want some Charlotte Tilbury (I’m waiting for her Holiday collection, it looks awesome), I’m against Clarisonic and the like, I’ve been considering getting a Lorac palette for a while but it hasn’t happened, and I just couldn’t spend so much on hairspray…
Are you taking your Photoshop class online? I should really do that. I have Photoshop at home but I only know how to use a fraction of all the options!

October 13, 2015 at 10:12 amNo, I’m actually taking a real class twice a week in the evening. I’ve been wanting to do that for quite some time and now I finally have the time to do it!

October 13, 2015 at 4:27 amUnfortunately, I have not used any of these products. The Clarisonic brush has been in my wish list for a while now. Have a nice week, Carol!

October 15, 2015 at 11:42 pmSo glad I’m not the only one who has products lingering on their wishlist for a lifetime!
All of these feature on mine too, so tempted to buy the Charlotte Tilbury pillow talk lip cheat … and I think you should treat yourself to something from your wishlist too!

October 22, 2015 at 7:08 pmHaha I am the same way with wish lists! Always the internal struggle about what is worth getting! I do own the Clarisonic brush and I have stages where I really love it and then don’t use it for a while. I don’t think its a necessity but I do notice that when I use it my skin is more plump and smooth:)

February 20, 2016 at 12:21 amAnything by Charlotte Tilbury is a yes from me because the quality is just so amazing, and don’t get me started on the beautiful shades and packaging! Penelope Pink looks really pretty, I’m keen to try her new Kiss Chase lipstick which looks like a really pretty pink.
Do like the look of the Lorac palette here also, very warming colours and ones I would go for with all those beautiful shades!
Lovely choices!
