Apparently, my wish for a long, hot summer has been granted: it is now the beginning of October and we had 30° C over the weekend… Say what?!
But despite the unusually good weather, just like every year the beginning of fall is making me a little sad, so today I thought I’d ask for your help. Would you like to play a little game?
I’d love for you to help cheer me up by telling me what your favorite thing about the fall is. Like I always say, let’s focus on the good rather than the bad! 🙂
Please, don’t be shy.
I’ll start.
My favorite thing about the fall (actually, the only thing I like about it) is the renewed energy I get when it comes to makeup. During the summer, most of the time I don’t really feel like playing with makeup and often just wear mascara and a bright lip. But at this time of the year, I always get back into it and start experimenting again. I just really enjoy the time I spend putting it on, you know. Plus, the fall color palette, with its rich, warm tones, is probably my favorite of the year.
So yeah, I guess there’s almost always something good to any situation!
But now, before you tell me about what you like the most in the fall, let’s have a look at my September favorites.
Chanel Le Blush Crème de Chanel in 61 Destiny ($38)
Le Blush Crème de Chanel is the best cream blush I’ve ever tried: it has just the right amount of pigment, blends really easily, has the most beautiful satin-matte finish, and lasts very long on my oily skin. Destiny is a pinky brown shade that looks super natural once you’ve blended it into the skin – it looks healthy and goes with any makeup. What’s not to love?
Dior Rouge Dior Lipstick in 602 Visionary Matte ($35)
Now, it’s not like I’ve been wearing blue lipstick on a daily basis, but after searching for the perfect shade of blue for months, I’m glad I finally found it in the new Rouge Dior in 602 Visionary Matte. If you want to know more about it and see it in action, check out my full review.
Formula X Prime Base Coat ($10.50)
I never thought that base coats could prolong the wear of my polish, but I’ve recently found out that the Formula X Prime Base Coat does exactly that. Pair it with a good top coat (like the Essence The Gel Nail Polish Top Coat) and you’ll get the most out of your favorite polishes!
Chanel Rouge Allure Ink Matte Liquid Lip Colour in 154 Expérimenté ($37)
With Rouge Allure Ink, Chanel managed to create a matte liquid lipstick that is extremely comfortable and very flattering on the lips. If you don’t believe me, you can see it in action here! 😉
Charlotte Tilbury Legendary Lashes ($32)
If you’ve read my review of Charlotte Tilbury’s Legendary Lashes mascara, you may be surprised to see it featured here. You’ll probably remember that I said that I liked it, but thought that it wasn’t worth the money, since it had a couple of flaws that a mascara this expensive really shouldn’t have (it smudged easily and the wand picked up way too much product).
After a couple of months of use, the wand has finally started to pick up the right amount of product, and since it’s not as hot as it was back in July when I got it, it doesn’t smudge that easily anymore. Plus, the effect on the lashes is amazing: it’s extremely volumizing and really, really black. I still wouldn’t recommend it, but I have to say that I’ve been loving it lately.
So, now it’s your turn. What’s your favorite thing about the fall? 😉

October 5, 2016 at 11:08 amThe weather is the same here in Cyprus, sooooo hot at the moment, it feels like July. I always get excited for fall and especially for my dark lipsticks. I love this season and I started wearing my plum/berry/dark red shades!

October 5, 2016 at 11:29 amI love fall, but I can’t really explain why, it might just be the weather or the idea that Christmas is just around the corner! It’s so funny to see Dior doing such fun lipstick shades, it’s gorgeous though!

October 5, 2016 at 12:50 pmI hate to admit it but I don’t really like fall where I live neither summer because here they’re the humid season so rain is always probable and you have to wear two different outfits at the same time.
At least in fall is mostly cold so you don’t need to be almost changing clothes in the evening.
However what I like most of the season is Dia de muertos and the hojaldras (pan de muerto) I could eat a lot of it.

October 7, 2016 at 12:45 pmHi Efrain!
At the moment here it’s warm during the day, but pretty chilly in the morning and evening, so I totally understand the pain of having to wear two different outfits! 😉

October 6, 2016 at 5:46 amI am the same, I don’t feel like wearing lots of makeup in Summer but now that the weather has cooled down a lot, I want to experiment again! And holy cow, you hit pan on a cream blush, good on you, I did with my Stila Convertible Colour in shade Petunia. My favourite thing about Autumn? Hot chocolate, jackets, OTK boots, oh yea!

October 6, 2016 at 8:42 amMy favorite thing about fall is the color of leaves turning yellow, orange and red! Unfortunately we basically don’t have that in San Diego… Palm trees don’t change color in the fall, lol!

October 6, 2016 at 10:44 amMy favourite thing about Autumn is also the makeup. I love how beautiful nature gets at the beginning of autumn, however, the freezing weather isn’t something I love! Experimente is just gorgeous, isn’t it?

October 6, 2016 at 12:06 pmNice picks! Fall is sooooooo your season for make-up! What I love most about this season are the eyeshadow colors, the fashion and the earlier nights (yep, I’m one of those people).

October 6, 2016 at 2:21 pmI used to love fall for the opportunity to cuddle up on the sofa with hot tea and books/movies without the fear of missing out on amazing outdoor activities. But with kids, you are out no matter the weather, and sitting on the couch quietly reading isn´t a thing at the moment either (again, kids), so like you I indulge in the change of makeup colors. And Chai Latte. That one has stayed.

October 7, 2016 at 12:48 pmAhhh, Chai Latte! I used to drink tons when I lived in the States, but Italian coffee shops don’t make it. Do you make yours at home?

October 6, 2016 at 5:49 pmI have missed your blog, Carolina!! I have been awful at keeping up with all the blogs I love but have got yours listed among my must-visit at all times <3 Loved these gorgeous bits and pieces and the little fall-inspired game 😉 I wouldn't be able to tell you ONE favourite thing if I could pick two, it would be the feeling of the new beginning or new fresh start (I always get it once the season changes – much more evidently than in January) and fall fashion along with makeup. I think I manged to fit 3 favourite things in 🙂 It's not 30 degrees here but it's bright & sunny – can't complain about that lol.
Love Chanel blush & wow, you're rocking that dark colour so perfectly!

October 7, 2016 at 12:51 pmHi Nadia, thank you for stopping by! 🙂
I feel the same about the fall feeling more like a new beginning than January. It might be some sort of school reminiscence!

October 6, 2016 at 8:31 pmI absolutely love fall (ok maybe minus the rain-not good for my already frizzy hair). I love the gorgeous colors of the nature and trees changing colors, wearing boots and layering clothes. I love visits to an apple orchard and drinking warm cider, and picking up pumpkins. And Halloween! And, of course, stunning fall makeup collections!
As far as mascaras- it happens a lot, at first the brush doesn’t pick up enough product or picks up way too much and then it’s just perfect!
Hope all is well with you!

October 7, 2016 at 12:54 pmOh yeah, I loved Halloween when I was in the States, but here it’s just a meaningless, imported holiday.

October 7, 2016 at 6:08 amWe are having a long summer as well but I on the other hand can’t wait for the colder days to come! The new makeup lines, pumpkin spice candles, boot season, etc :p I need to swatch that blush btw, you hit pan on it so that already says a lot ! 😛
Have a great Friday!

October 7, 2016 at 12:56 pmHi Josune! I think the Chanel blush is a little hard to find these days, but if you do see it around, make sure you give it a swatch. It’s super pretty!

October 7, 2016 at 6:43 amIt’s unusually warm here too. I wish it would cool down already. One of my favorite things to do is break out my hoodies and go for long walks/hikes. With a nice hot cup of coffee and my camera.

October 7, 2016 at 3:15 pmMakeup and cosy fashion is definitely something that gets me excited about autumn. I am loving your autumn makeup picks, that dark blue lippie is so daring. PS your photography is beautiful here x

October 7, 2016 at 6:02 pmIt’s summer all year round where I live so I never get to experience Fall. 🙁 Would love to play around with autumn leaves and drink pumpkin spice latte! I think the best thing for Fall for me will definitely be all the Fall makeup collections! 😉

October 7, 2016 at 10:16 pmYay! A game! Haha, okay so my favourite thing about Autumn is probably how much cosier it gets – candles, blankets and talk of Christmas 🙂 On a different note, you’ve featured SO many gorgeous products in this post; I still love this Chanel shade and the Chanel blush looks as though it’d be beautifully flattering on most complexions 🙂

October 8, 2016 at 12:55 pmHaha I feel the same as you! I’m so not happy about the fact that it’s Fall, I just want the Summer back now! But here’s a positive, the beautiful coats and chunky scarves will make any outfit chic. The Le Blush Crème de Chanel look so stunning. I don’t own a pink/brown blush, but I really have to now. I feel a lot more confident in wearing cream products in the colder months, as I don’t get so hot. Oh look theres another positive about it being Fall lol. Also I wish that they sold Formula X here in the UK, I’ve heard nothing but great things about their products.
