Show a Little Lovin’… February 2016

Here I am with a new installment of Show a Little Lovin’… In case you didn’t read January’s post, this year I’ve decided to go through my stash at the beginning of each month and select a few ‘forgotten’ products I’ll then have to use as much as I can. Let’s have a look at February’s picks, shall we?

MAC Retro Matte Lipstick – All Fired Up

Listen up, y’all, if you ever happen to be set to conquer the world, this is the lipstick you should wear. Why, you ask me? Well, first of all, because of its name. I mean… All Fired Up! Don’t you already feel your mood and energy boosting?! But if that doesn’t do it for you, just look at the shade! I’m sure this bright warm-toned fuchsia won’t fail to pump you up. And last, but certainly not least, the true matte finish comes with the best staying power you could ever want from a non-liquid lipstick.

Laura Mercier Crème Eye Liner – Canard

Let me tell you, if you’re a brown-eyed brunette and have never worn teal eyeliner, you’ve been totally missing out, GURL! I’ve had this gorgeous cream liner from Laura Mercier for almost 3 years now and I have a feeling I should toss it soon (*insert crying emoji*), so I want to play with it as much as I can before parting from it for good. I did use it here recently with no adverse reaction, but I don’t know… I think we should always be extra careful when it comes to the eye area. Has any of you ever used a cream/gel liner for 3+ years?

February 2016 Makeup RotationL to R: MAC All Fired Up, Estée Lauder Rebellious Rose, Deborah 01, Laura Mercier Canard, The Balm Mary-Lou Manizer.

Estée Lauder Pure Color Envy Lipstick – Rebellious Rose

I’ve always thought that life was too short to wear neutral colors on the lips (#brightsforlife), but this beautiful Estée Lauder lipstick is kinda making me change my mind. To give my pout the prettiest rosy color and long-lasting moisture, I usually apply as thin a layer as I can and work it in with my finger. I highly recommend trying this formula if you haven’t already!

The Balm Mary-Lou Manizer

Having oily skin, I steered clear of highlighters for years, but a few months ago I felt like it was time for me to start experimenting with shimmery powders and I picked up the Mary-Lou Manizer. I was glad to find out that I can use it on my oily skin without turning into a disco ball (here I explained where I like to apply it), but it’s still a product I don’t reach for very often. This month things are different, though, and I’m trying to rock it as often as possible. I’ve found out it looks super pretty when used as an eyeshadow as well: sometimes I just press it on the lids with my finger and really love how it brightens up the eyes without being overly shimmery. Perfect for when I haven’t had enough of my beauty sleep! 😉

February 2016 Makeup RotationDeborah Atomic Red Mat01

I feel like these posts are always going to be pretty lipstick-heavy, since I have a full arsenal of bullets that are eager to be put to good use. This is a shade I’m not really sure how to describe: sometimes it leans more red, sometimes more orange and sometimes more pink. Maybe a coral red? Anyways, I think it’s the perfect daytime lipstick if you want something with more oomph than a nude or MLBB, but don’t want to go too bright either. Despite what the name would suggest, the finish is more of a satin-matte, which makes it a great lip option for those who don’t tolerate true mattes. Just be prepared to reapply a couple of times throughout the day.

Have you ever tried any of these products? And what lipstick would you wear to conquer the world?

I cant settle for a specific one, but it would be a red for sure. Red lips to conquer the world!
And yes, I do have eye liners or cream shadows that are older than 3 years and that I still use, I am not very careful in that department.

I’ve bought All Fired Up a month ago and so far, I only wore it once but I agree that this kind of Cranberry shade does provide a good amount of confidence! Now I can see why you talk about Rebelious Rose in my blog, it is lovely indeed!

I’ve heard fantastic things for the Pure Envy line from EL. I’m really keen on trying a couple of their lipsticks since I fancy a creamier texture. Rebellious Rose seems like a great pick!

Yay I’m glad you posted the MAC All Fired Up Lipstick! It’s such a gorgeous shade. That is such a brilliant idea to have a series dedicated to “forgotten” beauty products. Whenever I rediscover something and end up loving it and using it more, it makes me less tempted to buy!

I too have oily skin and I haven’t owned a highlighter for too long. But I do love the ones I have and I almost bought the Mary-Lou Manizer a couple of weeks ago. Maybe I’ll get back to it some day 🙂
If I wanted to conquer the world I’d probably wear bold red lipstick with lip gloss on top (and hair up in a ponytail, since I can’t stand when hair gets into sticky lip gloss :D)
Thanks for the read! I loved this type of post 🙂

I am one of these brown eyed people who haven’t worn coloured eyeliner but black, I’ve never thought they would suit me and now you got me wonder. I had the same worries before I got my beloved Mary Lou, I am happy that it doesn’t make me look like a disco ball. Even though I am not a frequent red wearer, red lippie would be perfect to conquer the world.

Everything you’ve shown is beautiful, Carol! I should do something like that too, so I use all my makeup and I don’t go over and over with the same things. All the lipsticks look gorgeous, I lose All Fired Up specially, is just gorgeous!
Mary Lou is something that isn’t sold in here (not that I’ve seen at least) but I’m trying to find it as I’m a highlighter junkie haha.
Amazing post as always, beautiful. I hope you have a great day xx

To conquer the world, I’d probably wear red lipstick. MAC Dubonnet, or my newly found love Lancôme Le Carmin maybe!
I’ve been using liquid liners that are more than 4 years old without a problem, but not gel liners. Not that I’m afraid they’d be unsafe, but they usually dry out long before that mark! That’s one reason why I don’t want to buy them anymore: they’re one of the makeup products I have to toss the fastest.

I’ve never tried any of these products, but I love the lipsticks you have! I’m the same where I didn’t really pay much attention to more neutral colors because I figured there was no point, but now I’m starting to get in a phase where I love them! Rebellious Rose and Deborah 01 are gorgeous colors. And personally I haven’t quite yet found my shade I’d wear to conquer the world, but I’m all for experimenting!

Firstly, I love this series on your blog! I definitely need to recap over my make-up collection too. I’m always getting obsessed with products and then completely forgetting about others. So I’m excited to see what you’ve forgotten about each month too haha. I love the Estée Lauder Rebellious Rose shade, it looks like a bold colour that I’d like to try. Seeing as I don’t really wear bold shades, I must like it lol. I am also yet to purchase one of the balm’s highlighters, but I’m always lusting over them!!

Such gorgeous lipstick shades! You know how to rock a bold lip that’s for sure and these colours are really gorgeous. I like the look of the Deborah one, it’s a really beautiful shade.

For me I love lipsticks and my collection is growing and growing.

The NARS collection without a shadow of a doubt it my favourite however I also love Charlotte Tilbury, and MAC at the moment. Chanel also have some pretty lip shades.

LouManizer is one of my favourite highlighters, also. A lot of TheBalm highlighters are actually really gorgeous and subtle, and like you said, they work really well for oily skin which is always a huge plus!
