When purchasing makeup, I try to only get those things I know I’m really going to use. But, you know, only having one set of eyes and one mouth, it might be months before I get to reuse a product, which sometimes leads me to forget about it and only use the most recent stuff I got.
Well, in order to make sure that doesn’t happen again, this year I’ve decided that at the beginning of each month I’m going through my collection to select a few products I’ll have to incorporate in my looks as much as I can. Below I’ve listed the lucky picks that are getting some serious lovin’ this month.
KIKO Intensely Lavish Lipstick – 04 Mild Sangria
This is one of the lipsticks from their Fall 2015 Rebel Romantic collection, which happens to be my favorite one of all time. It’s still available and currently on sale in several countries, so don’t miss the last chance to get your hands on some beautifully packaged, high quality makeup at a very low price! I have to admit that I’ve purchased the Intensely Lavish Lipstick mainly because of the super pretty, rose gold packaging. If you’re not new to this blog, you’ll probably know that I mostly use matte finishes, but I’m forcing myself to reach for this creamy option because it’s undoubtedly a great one. I really like its berry rose color, which works amazingly well if you’re going for one of those day-to-night looks. Longevity is good for a non-matte lipstick and can be extended by using the coordinating liner (you can read my rave review here).
Tarte Tartelette Amazonian Clay Matte Eyeshadow Palette
A beauty blogger favorite, the original Tartelette palette features 12 matte shadows in various, mostly cool-toned, neutral shades. The reason I haven’t reached for this great palette much is that I’ve been stuck using my beloved Too Faced Natural Matte (review and swatches here) whenever I need matte neutrals. But this month that’s going to change and I’m planning on using the Tartelette palette to make one shadow on the lid, one in the crease and one as a liner type of looks.
Collistar Silk Effect Eyeshadow – 60 Satin Taupe
Since the beginning of the month, I’ve already used this versatile eyeshadow from Collistar a few times. It’s a very dupable taupe shade, but what I really like it’s the beautiful satin finish. It’s basically a matte with a little luminosity to make it more interesting. The way I’ve been applying it is with a blending brush as a one wash wonder. It’s very pigmented, so it can look pretty dark when applied at full intensity with a flat brush.
NARS Blush – Amour
NARS blushes are cult favorites with good reason: they’re very pigmented, yet easy to blend, finely milled and long-lasting. Amour is a warm reddish pink that I can see flattering a lot of different skin tones. Since it packs some serious pigment, I usually apply it with a fluffy brush (Real Techniques Blush Brush) and find that on my pale complexion one sweep is enough for a natural-looking pink flush.
KIKO Matte Muse Lipstick – 05 Haughty Mauve
Another limited edition lipstick from KIKO! This one is from their Midnight Siren collection, which was released shortly after the Rebel Romantic one. I absolutely LOVE its non-drying, long-lasting formula and beautiful purply raspberry color. Why I haven’t shown this amazing liquid lipstick much lovin’ over the past few months is a real mystery! It’s as much a mystery as why KIKO don’t have a matte liquid lipstick in their permanent range… I have a feeling they will launch one soon, though!
Do you ever forget to use any products for extended periods of time, even if you actually really like them? What do you do to prevent that from happening?

January 9, 2016 at 9:04 pmThis is what I have been doing for the past few months; going through my makeup graveyard, purging old makeup and rediscovering old favourites again. Not only it makes me use every single product that I have but it also pushes my creativity boundaries for my blog. I hate Nars Orgasm blush but Amour looks like a stunner!

January 9, 2016 at 9:28 pmGreat post (as usual!) I especially love how funny one those paragraphs is, not sure if you even realize it. “I don’t use this one often because I’ve been reaching for Too Faced..” The irony is just too much! January 9, 2016 at 11:22 pmI have the same problem, sometimes I completely forget about a product even though I was super excited to buy it :/ I’m also trying to find a way to use up what I have more, instead of buying new, shiny things. Picking a few products out and putting them somewhere I’ll see them is one way to go!

January 10, 2016 at 9:09 amI’ve heard great things about the Tartlette shadows, but I never really got into them. Now Too Faced eyeshadows are another story. I just got the Chocolate Bon Bons palette and now they are going to come out with a PB&J AND peach palette! NARS blushes are so beautiful, I got Seduction in November which is a deep wine shade that’s perfect for colder months. I love this post, I wrote something similar a while back of rediscovering my old makeup favorites so it’ll force me to think twice before buying new makeup. So far, so good!

January 11, 2016 at 11:26 pmKIKO is an Italian brand and, being Italian, I’ve used it for the past 10 years… There’s a lot of buzz around it now because it’s expanding into more and more countries and everyone is trying their products. Some things are really good, others not so much. In my experience their mascaras and liquid liners are pretty awful, while you can find some real gems in the other categories.

January 10, 2016 at 10:46 amGreat idea! I’ve been giving some love to the original Tartlette palette lately too. It’s easy to just get stuck in a rut and reach for the same stuff day in day out, I need to rotate more.

January 11, 2016 at 8:37 pmIt happens to me a lot. I buy something then use it a lot, then when I buy something else I completely ignore the other product, which is not good. It is actually a really good idea and I want to start using the products I have instead of keep buying. One of the main reason I got that intensely lavish lipstick was the adorable gold packaging!

January 11, 2016 at 10:47 pmThat palette is simply gorgeous! I need to check it out the next time I’m at Ulta because I simply love Tarte! I don’t have too much makeup in my collection, as I don’t wear too much and prefer a neutral look. With that, I, too, like to shop and purchase items that I know I’m truly going to use because let’s face it (no pun intended 😉 good quality makeup is pretty expensive! I made the mistake of getting the Vice palette a while back, which is indeed beautiful, but very expensive and I don’t really use it. I need to take a lesson from you and perhaps come up with some looks that I can create using the palette to get my money’s worth; thanks so much for sharing! I hope you’re having a an amazing start to your week so far, beauty!
