Let’s face it, buying makeup for a beauty lover is not an easy task. We not only have a lot of stuff already, but also a pretty precise idea of what we would like to acquire next. That’s why I think opting for a gift card would be a smart move… and a very appreciated one! At least by yours truly! 😉
If I’m not alone in this, I guess that for Christmas at least some of you will be getting a little credit to spend at Sephora or MAC or whatever other beauty retailer you have where you live. So, just in case your card value exceeds the value of the items on your wishlist (HA! As if that were even possible…!), today I thought I would share with you a few of those pricey products that in my opinion are really worth splurging on.
TOM FORD LIP COLOR MATTE – FLAME
A study conducted by the University of Maryland has shown that the use of Tom Ford lipsticks in the fall and winter helps brighten up dull days: the landscape will switch from black and white to Technicolor and getting out of bed in the cold mornings will seem less daunting… OK I might be exaggerating here, but putting on this gorgeous orange-red lipstick never fails to make me feel better. I don’t know if it’s the luxury it exudes or its amazing color that is bright enough but not overly bright (so that it looks great no matter the season or time of the day!), all I know is that I FREAKING LOVE IT! Its satin-matte finish and comfortable texture make it a universal people pleaser.
DIOR ADDICT FLUID STICK – 872 MONA LISETTE
Just look at that packaging! The inside of the clear tube is shaped like a lipstick bullet… GENIUS. And in case you’re wondering, what’s inside is just as good! It’s an opaque lip gloss with a gel-like consistency that is hydrating over time. It’s non-sticky but still pretty long-lasting for a lip gloss and it’s also interesting to note that after the shine wears off, it leaves behind a nice stain. Mona Lisette is a beautiful fuchsia I love to wear during the summer months.
Tom Ford Lip Color Matte in Flame and Dior Addict Fluid Stick in 872 Mona Lisette:NARS DUO EYESHADOW – ISOLDE
I can see your eyes rolling! I know I’ve already mentioned this duo in a review and in my November Favorites, but I can’t help it, I have to praise it. I’ll just say that it’s the most buttery eyeshadow formula I’ve ever tried, the rest you can go read for yourself! 😉
CHANEL LES BEIGES HEALTHY GLOW SHEER POWDER – SHADE 50
Healthy Glow Sheer Powder… Yep, that’s exactly what this is! With this cream-colored compact, Chanel invented a new concept of bronzer: a sheer powder that imparts beautiful warmth and glow to the complexion and it’s impossible to overdo. It’s so finely milled that you can’t detect any powder sitting on top of your skin, it really just makes you look as if you were glowing from within.
YSL ROUGE PUR COUTURE THE MATS – 201 ORANGE IMAGINE & 208 FUCHSIA FETICHE
If you want to splurge on a lipstick, but the thought of giving Mr. Tom Ford 50 bucks makes your eyes water, YSL got you covered! The iconic Rouge Pur Couture The Mats have a little less daunting price tag, but the same luxurious feel. Their smooth texture, which hugs the lips in the most comfortable way ever, has been a personal favorite for years. I actually did a review of these last summer, so you are very welcome to check that out for further details and swatches.
Do you appreciate beauty gift cards or find them too impersonal? What are the products you think are worth dropping some serious dollar on?

December 12, 2015 at 1:07 pmGift cards is one one thing I don’t receive as a gift but useless things which i won’t ever be using! I wouldn’t mind splurging on a TF lippie, it is a beautiful shade and it would definitely brighten up dull days 😉

December 12, 2015 at 4:37 pmTF lipsticks (yes, plural) are in my list to purchase and hopefully I’ll be able to buy starting mid of next year when I’ve made a huge dent on my current lipstick collection. I have no idea about Chanel powder but now that I know about it, I freaking want it too!

December 12, 2015 at 11:24 pmI agree, a gift card is sometimes the best way to go! Don’t get me wrong I love the presents I already get (and I’m super grateful for them) but sometimes I want something very specific! I really love the Tom Ford lip color matte, it looks really smooth and pigmented 🙂

December 14, 2015 at 10:50 amMy fiance hates giving gift cards, and I insist on him giving me one so I can buy whatever I want, but he finds them so impersonal. That red lipstick looks so good on you, and yes I agree, there’s nothing like red lipstick that perks you up. I love the Sephora Cream Lip Stain in “Aways Red”, it’s that classic matte holiday lip and it’s long lasting. Also I tagged you for my “50 things about me” tag, go check it out and feel free to do it if you want!

December 14, 2015 at 1:49 pmThe make-up look you created with these products is perfect Carol! I love the lip colour on you and really want to try a Tom Ford lipstick. I like beauty gift cards and wish I got more of them to be honest lol. I am fussy with my make-up so I think that I’m better off just being given a voucher haha.

December 15, 2015 at 1:16 amOmg been wanting that Nars Isolde duo for a few weeks now, but I can’t find it in the sephora where I live! I guess I’ll have to order it online – but then you can’t use gift cards to order online.

December 15, 2015 at 1:32 amOh yes I really really like to get gift cards for Christmas! Fingers crossed that I’ll get some!
I already have a pretty long wishlist, but I might opt for a Nars duo too: probably not Isolde, but I’ve been eyeing Kauai for ages. It’s supposed to be one of the best in terms of texture (I’ve had hits and misses with Nars shadow formula).

December 17, 2015 at 5:15 amI love receiving gift cards…it might be a little impersonal, but it’s the thought that counts and if someone knows you then they might know that you are difficult to buy for. Anyways, these products are wonderful!
